4th Annual Transboundary Grasslands Workshop

Heritage Hall, Lethbridge Exhibition Park, Lethbridge, AB.


The title of this year's workshop is "Connecting the Dots" and it will focus on the importance of connectivity, priority areas in the transboundary grassland, and communication. The workshop will kick off with a half-day field tour to Writing-on-Stone on December 3rd; commence and remain in Lethbridge for a full day on December 4th, and half day on December 5th to allow time to travel safely back home. Please see the attached draft agenda for more details. Participants are encouraged to bring posters and extension materials highlighting information that they wish to share with the Transboundary Grasslands Partnership to the workshop.

The recipe for our Farmers' Christmas Market is a twist of something homemade or made for a home, this market offers something of both.  We’ve combined a healthy batch of home made treats, stirred in some crafty vendors and added a pinch of your favorites from some retail and created our Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Farmers' Christmas Market.
 

November 10, Saturday 2 pm: We Will Remember Them. The Esplanade, Medicine Hat.

This is a free concert by the Allegro Band of the Medicine Hat Concert Band Society and guests, to commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of The Armistice of World War One on November 11, 1918.

November 20 - 21. Aquality 2018 Alberta Wetland Course. Edmonton, AB.
The Alberta Wetland Assessment and Impact Report Directive and Alberta Wetland Mitigation Directive were updated in 2017. In addition to these changes, the Alberta Wetland Assessment and Impact Form was created for projects with low risk and temporary impacts to the aquatic environment. If you don’t know the difference between a WAIF and WAIR, it may be time to update your knowledge of the Alberta Wetland Policy in 2018. Whether you are new to understanding wetlands in Alberta or a practicing professional, Aquality Environmental Ltd offers a classroom based wetland course to inspire and prepare you for the upcoming season.

December 2, Sunday 1 - 4 pm. Christmas Hayride. Police Point Park Nature Centre, Medicine Hat.
Annual Christmas Tradition - Hayrides, Christmas crafts, free hot chocolate, Christmas oranges, and candy canes. Possible surprise visit by the Jolly Old Elf.

December 6, Thursday 4 - 9 pm. Old Tyme Christmas & Christmas Farmers Market. Pioneer Village and Cypress Centre Auditorium, Medicine Hat.
The Enerplus Olde Tyme Christmas fair will run from 5 pm - 8 pm in Pioneer Village, featuring photos with Santa, hot chocolate, hot dogs, roast s'mores over an open fire, take a hay ride through the grounds, visit our historic Pioneer Village buildings, including a Blacksmith Shop, McKay Creek School, Fire Hall, 1913 Webb Ladder Truck, St. James Church, Austin's General Store, the Garage and a replica RCMP detachment. Next door, at the Cypress Centre Auditorium, the Olde Tyme Christmas Farmers' Market takes place from 4 pm-9 pm. Do some Christmas shopping, take a break from the cold, and get a chance to catch up with your favourite Farmers' Market vendors!!!

December 9, Sunday 2 - 3 pm. Bow Island Community Carol Festival. St. Michael's Church, Bow Island.

December 9, Sunday 5 pm. Bow Island Skate with Santa. Bow Island.

December 14 and 15, Friday 4 – 9 pm and Saturday 9 am – 5 pm. Beef Pen Show and Cowboy Christmas Trade Show. Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede grounds, Medicine Hat.
Wrap up your last minute Christmas shopping!

December 16, Sunday. Christmas Bird Count. Medicine Hat area.
Help us count winter birds in our area! We need feeder watchers so count at your bird feeder too. This annual event takes place all over North America. Birdwatching experience not required. Call 529-6225 to sign up. There is a Pot Luck Supper at the Nature Centre at 5:30 pm following the count - All are Welcome!
