Weekly Update

Just a reminder that we maintain a calendar of events on our website showing what's going on each week/month.  Here's what's on offer this weekend and in the weeks ahead for our current members (you can renew your membership here):

FRIDAY - DOUBLES - It's Friday Night Lights - SDTF style! Grab a partner or come solo and try to get paired up - it's the always popular Friday Night Doubles! As always, play is at the Balboa Tennis Club with sign ups beginning at 6:00 and play beginning at 7:00. This week we will play out sets. Your host is Octavio Ochoa.

SATURDAY - CLINIC - Hall of Famer Romeo Matais and his team of helpers present another fun monthly clinic. Join them from 9:00 - 11:00 at the San Diego High School courts for the next to last clinic of 2018 - yes, the year is flying by!!

SUNDAY - TEAM TENNIS - It's here, Team Tennis Kickoff Sunday. Our eight captains have drawn their teams, and now we get down to the competition. Matches are scheduled for 9:00 and 11:00 at either San Diego High School or Peninsula Tennis Club. Captains should have notified players of their time and location, but, if you are wondering where to play, contact Commissioner Jon Tyler.  

Here are some other things you'll want to know:

TEAM TENNIS ALTERNATES NEEDED: Commissioner Jon Tyler reminds all current SDTF members that you can be on the alternate roster for team tennis. Being an alternate makes you available to captains when they are looking for substitute players, and it's a fun way to play team tennis without a season-long commitment. SDTF BOARD NOMINATIONS -  As announced in this morning's detailed email, all SDTF Executive Board positions are open for nominations to serve for 2019. If you are interested or would like to nominate a fellow member, please send your nomination to James Kotonias, Rules Chair. All positions are elected each year: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership Chair, Social Chair, Rules Chair, and Ladder Chair. If you have questions about serving in any of these positions, please contact James or a current board member. 

SDTF HOLIDAY PARTY -  Save the Date for our annual Holiday Party, December 9 at 4:00 pm. This year, we will be celebrating the holiday season and the 35th anniversary of the SDTF at Martini's Above Fourth. Plan on joining us for food, fun, and fellowship. We will also announce the winners of this year's Club Awards, the newly elected Executive Board, and have lots of other surprises. You won't want to miss it! 

WE CARE 10 -  SDTF member and all around good guy, Junior Buendia, invites everyone to join him, other San Diego GLBTQ sports organizations, and members of our community to come together and support kids in need. This great annual event is on December 2, 6:00pm, at Rich's. More information can be found HERE. 

DECEMBER CLINICS -  So that you can plan accordingly, here is the schedule for upcoming  Federation clinics at San Diego High School:

SDTF LADDER -  Ladder season is winding down - get your matches in! You can see current ladder standings HERE. 

SDTF MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL - If you have yet to renew for 2018, your Membership Chair, Octavio Ochoa, and Board of Directors encourage you to do so now so that you may continue to participate in our many members only activities - renew here. Renewing now will get you ready for all of 2019 as well!!
