Connecting Employers to a Diverse Workforce |Empowering Newcomers through Employment
On October 18th, 2018, the Regina Open Door Society in partnership with Innovation Saskatchewan and Innovation Place hosted its first annual Working Code Hackathon. This event brought together newcomers with professional backgrounds in the tech sector, and industry experts from places such as ISM, Vivvo Applications, SaskTel International, SaskPower, Solvera, sMedia, and Dasro Consulting.
What happened after?
Networking, job interviews, and employment offers!
The solutions put together by all teams showcased a high level of technical skill, teamwork, problem-solving and creativity which sparked the interest of all employers present! After the presentations, many participants made contacts that lead to further connections, job interviews and jobs!
Overall, participants and employers agreed that this event provided a setting that allowed job seekers and employers to interact in a way where their skills and potential contributions were in the spotlight!
Thank you!
This event would not have been possible without the support of our partners, volunteer mentors, and all participating employers! Their engagement and guidance gave participants a platform that allowed them to showcase their skills and make fruitful employment connections.
We would also like to thank our Saskatchewanderer for stopping by to check out the hackathon and putting together this great video!
