Invitation to Worship

Let’s face it: the gospel doesn’t make a lot of sense. The idea that the last can be first at anything doesn’t make sense—that brokenness might find healing, that the lost might be found, that death will give way to life eternal—all of that is strange, bizarre, and it might even feel absurd…

Yet we’re the ones who believe it. How do we carry our strange faith through the world? Sometimes I think we treat being a Jesus-follower like a secret. Is that how it’s supposed to be? I hope you can join us this Sunday as we continue our series Resurrecting Faith, and examine how we carry our faith in a world that might not understand.

Also, we are excited to be welcoming new Partners to the Belong community. You can learn more about partnership here. If you are ready to dive in deeper with Belong and put your gifts to use, you can sign up here.

Grace and Peace,
Pastor Jasper

One Thing: Whittier ECE-8 School

Each month, we work to focus our justice efforts as a community in one area. This month, we are focusing on Whittier ECE-8 School, which has been serving the children in our neighborhood since 1884. We are doing a coat drive to help prepare students for the upcoming colder weather! Coats of all sizes are needed, but most students wear sizes 7-8 and 10-12. If you’d like, please bring new or gently used coats for students in our neighborhood.

DONATION PROGRESS: 14/30 coats

Wednesday Night at Belong

Wednesdays, 6–9 p.m.

November’s Theme: Creation

Putting a fresh take on the traditional Wednesday night church meeting, Wednesday Night at Belong is a weekly gathering inspired by the word “liturgy,” which literally means “the work of the people.” If you’re looking for deeper connection, spiritual refreshment, and opportunities for service through action, you’ll be right at home. During the night, we make lunches for our friends without homes, come together and hear from each other, pray together, sing together, and work on service projects in and around the church. The band rehearses for the following Sunday and anyone who is interested in worship arts is encouraged to meet, play, sing, create, and brainstorm more creative ways of serving our church body through the arts.

Snacks and beverages will be provided (potluck is invited!), and while we will not have formal childcare, your kids are more than welcome to join in.
