The Board met this week and the following topics addressed:
  1. Learning Support Report: Tania Faulkner-McKenzie updated the Board on her role and the new programmes successfully implemented this year. She is very happy with their impact.
  2. Curriculum Reviews: 'English' and 'Maths and Statistics' reviews were presented. What is going well and next steps were outlined with supporting quantitative and qualitative data.
  3. 2019 Draft Annual Goals: these were presented and discussed.
  4. Staff Update:
    1. Keri Mathieson and Cassie Watt will finish at the end of their maternity leave this year choosing to focus on their family.
    2. Sarah McKenzie has given notice of her new appointment at Heddon Bush School for the start of 2019.
    3. Permanent positions have been awarded to Anna Moratti and Amy Kerslake.


Head Lice

Reminder: Each Friday for the rest of Term 4, the Friends of School are selling sausages and muffins for lunch for $2 each.
Order yours Friday morning before school outside the office.

We are still looking for helpers for the rest of term. It only takes an hour of your time to assist with this. All funds raised are used by FOS to assist with teacher support in the classrooms. Thank you!
Sports Results & Notices ...
Our tennis stars continue to shine! This week Rafferty and Taine competed at the Edger Centre in Dunedin as part of the 'Otago, Southland and South Canterbury Primary School Tennis Champs'. Taine finished 4th and Rafferty 5th. Fantastic results boys!

All the best to Katy Brown who is also representing Southland in the U10s in Dunedin this Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

2019 Term Dates:
Term 1 = Tuesday 29 Jan until 12 April (11 Weeks)
Term 2 = Monday 29 April until 5 July (10 Weeks)
Term 3 = Monday 22 July until 27 September (10 Weeks)
Term 4 = Monday 14 October until 12 December (9 Weeks)
Room for one more?
There are children and young people in the community who need the support of foster families. Family Works are seeking people (couples or singles) to welcome children and young people into their homes. Care may be needed for regular respite, temporary short-term or long-term. Family Works will support you with training, ongoing assistance and foster reimbursement.

Southland Board Riders
We cater to kids via age group events as well as having men’s and women’s events in both short and long board categories. All the events are family friendly and held in a safe environment.

Within the club there are members who help instruct those wishing to push their competitive side and they are assisted in attending South Island and NZ surfing competitions.

Each year the club holds a Surf Camp in January where members all head off for a weekend of camping and surfing in more remote surf spots. 

Costs: The yearly subscription is $15 per individual or $40 for the whole family. This entitles the member to free entry into the Summer Series events, the camp and to utilise the clubs surfing resources.
