LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Dear Bishop Kelley Community,

On October 16, I set out on the Camino de Santiago in Spain with 14 other pilgrims. The Camino is an age old pilgrimage route starting in different parts of Europe that descend upon the tomb and relics of St. James the Apostle, the patron saint of pilgrims.

It was a true blending of humanity as I walked along side people from France, Germany, Australia and different parts of the United States. No matter where each of us started from we all shared the same goal: getting to Santiago!

During the nine days of walking, many things passed through my mind, but time and again I reflected upon the noble work and ministry of Bishop Kelley High School.

I could not help but reflect upon the number of students who share the common starting place that is Bishop Kelley as they embark upon their journey of life. I could not help but reflect upon the paths that our students have taken in the world and the positive impact they have made. I could not help but reflect upon our call to not only prepare the student for life on earth, but to prepare them for eternal life.

The days on the Camino de Santiago were truly days of grace and clarity. They were days that left me filled with gratitude for all who are a part of the Bishop Kelley family. I have returned to BK renewed and even more committed to leading this wonderful school in its mission of continuing the teaching ministry of Jesus Christ and preparing our students for life.

Please enjoy this monthly Connection which contains both past accomplishments and upcoming events.

Also know that during this month of November when the church prays in a particular way for all of our faithful departed, that all deceased alumni, benefactors and faculty will be remembered at all of our school masses.

In Christ,

Rev. Gary Kastl
President

THE 39TH ANNUAL BISHOP KELLEY AUCTION

What you need to know about the 39th Annual Bishop Kelley Auction on April 27, 2019……………

The proceeds from the 2019 Auction will be used toward the 3 T’s:

  • Technology Upgrades - Upgrades will vary by classroom according to faculty needs.  They could include touch screen TVs, wireless printers, and/ or software specific to subjects such as math and science.

  • Tuition Assistance - One out of every five BK students would not receive a BK education without the assistance given to them each year.  In addition, there are many families who choose not to send their children to BK because they can't afford the tuition balance after they learn how much assistance they qualify for.  We don't want to turn away students because of cost.

  • Theater Enhancements – Enhancements will include adding a projector for presentations and projecting scenery for musicals, replacing non-functioning speakers, upgrading the lighting system, adding a cooling system for all electronics, and replacing the curtains and hanging system that's original to the theater.

It’s Gift Gathering time for the Auction, November 1st - November 15th in each first block classroom!  Send donations with your students to their first block class.  Whether its cash, checks, items, restaurant gift cards, gift certificates for services, tickets to a concert or sporting event or a week at a vacation home – it’s all very valuable and the key to the fundraising at the April 2019 Auction!  There is a class competition for the top 3 classes (based on highest average value of donation per student in class that gave) with cash prizes for the teachers and a party for the class. The BK Community is so very generous. Thank you!

Patron sponsor tables will go on sale in November at BishopKelley.org/Auction. Levels range from the $500 Rumba level to the $10,000 Mambo level and the $25,000 Cha Cha Cha Presenting Sponsor level.
