Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour Saturday night before going to bed. Also remember to change the batteries in all your smoke detectors.
WORSHIP SERVICE
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 4H
"The Science of Gratitude” - Being grateful is more than just a spiritual practice or outlook. Practicing gratitude has been shown to rewire the brain. What is going on, why does it matter, and how do we make the most of it?
During this time of year, many faith traditions honor the people in their lives who have died. If you wish to bring a memento of someone who has died to place on an altar on Sunday, please do.
NOTE FROM INTERN MINISTER
Our minister, the Rev. Mitra Jafarzadeh will be on sabbatical for the rest of the year. If you need to talk to a minister, Alice Diebel, Intern Minister is available for pastoral care by appointment. You can reach her at adiebel@stjohnsuu.org or at (937) 305-4694. We also have a long-standing Caring Circle, chaired by Ann Schuur. Please do not expect responses to emails or phone calls from Rev. Jafarzadeh.

SPLIT THE PLATE - NOVEMBER 11TH
Sharing our resources… to make the world a better place. November is when we recognize Transgender Day of Remembrance, honoring Transgender folks who have died as a result of hate crimes. What an important time for St. John’s to support the LGBTQ+ community, especially given recent news https://tinyurl.com/LatestBadNews that the administration wants to “erase” the rights of those who identify as Trans and Gender Non-Binary. Your generosity for the November SPLIT THE PLATE organization is important. The Split the Plate will benefit Living With Change. LWC is an inclusive non-profit organization that provides education, support, resources, and advocacy for the LGBQ+ and Transgender community in the Greater Cincinnati area and beyond. It was founded by parents who sought resources to support gender non-conforming children and youth. The Forum on
Nov. 4 will feature staff from LWC.
COMMEMORATIVE TREE PROJECT MOVING QUICKLY
Good news! The Cincinnati Parks Foundation and St. John’s have reached agreement on the planting of a tree in Washington Park commemorating the 450th anniversary of the signing of the Edit of Torda. The tree, to be located on the southwest corner of the park across from the old St. Johns, will be a red maple. Donations are still needed to cover the costs of the tree. Contribute now by writing a check to St. John’s with “friendship tree” in the memo line. All donations will be matched, dollar for dollar, by a generous St. Johner. We hope to have a special tree planting ceremony soon so watch for more news of that event.
