Over 7000 families preserve memories with
The 1947 Partition Archive

We are pleased to announce that The 1947 Partition Archive now boasts over 7,000 oral histories.  This means that you've helped us build the largest repository of oral history and oral knowledge on South Asia and one of the largest video based oral history archives in the world.

We thank you for staying the course!  We realize that the day to day reality of recording oral histories isn't very glamorous or flashy.  Documenting a subcontinent's oral history is tedious work, that requires time and patience.  There are no shortcuts.  We are immensely proud of our team of Citizen Historian volunteers, Story Scholars and supporters for this accomplishment.

Public education opportunities and dissemination, which we envision will take the form of events, social media broadcasts, film, books, primary education curricula, academic research, art, and more will go on for decades to come.  The main urgency remains in documenting the oral histories before it is too late.

We are very close today to meet our initial benchmark goal of 10,000 oral histories.

Thank you for making this a possibility!
