Your website and the Patient Participation DES

If you are participating in the Patient Participation directed enhanced service your GPsurgery.net website can help you meet the requirements:
  • Invite patients to join your Patient Participation Group by including a notice on the home page of your website. Take a look at The James Street Family Practice website.
  • Alternatively include an online form on your website to recruit patients to your Patient Participation Group. GPsurgery.net offers this service free of charge. Take a look at the form on our demo website.
  • Once you’ve designed your local practice survey and have identified an appropriate sample of your practice population, there are several free services that allow you to set up an online survey, including SurveyMonkey and SurveyGizmo. (If you’re pushed for time or don’t feel up to it technically, GPsurgery.net can help set up your online survey for a small fee).
  • Publish your Local Patient Participation Report on your website each year as a Word or PDF document.
The guidance published by the BMA and NHS Employers has plenty of advice and a step-by-step guide to the patient involvement scheme, which runs from 1 April 2011 to 31 March 2013.
