Dear IMIrJ friends,
Today Jews and allies across the country will gather for Solidarity Shabbat to honor the victims of last week's tragic shooting in Pittsburgh. We hold in prayer and love our Jewish kin in Oregon and beyond. We are with you.
We say no to hate, no to anti-semitism, no to white supremacy, no to attempts to divide us. We say yes to love - and yes to life in beloved community that recognizes our inherent interconnectedness and celebrates difference.

Here in Oregon, we say No to 105 - an attempt to divide our communities, rooted in racism and fear.
For well over a year, faith communities have been hard at work to defend and expand sanctuary for all in our state.
You collected thousands of Decline to Sign/No on IP22 pledge cards, you sang holiday carols calling out IP22 for what it is, you hosted Sanctuary Everywhere vigils, and countless educational forums, panels, and worship services. You’ve shared the stories of community members who have the most to lose if M105 passes. You’ve written letters to the editor (check out this one recently published in the Bend Bulletin) and liked/loved/tweeted to your networks. You’ve hosted No on 105 house meetings in your congregations and neighborhoods. You’ve gone door-to-door to talk to fellow neighbors, rain or shine. You’ve called. Texted. Sent postcards.
Now we’ve come to the home stretch of a critical crossroads in this struggle. In three days, Oregon voters will decide: will we embrace and embody diversity, equity and inclusion or will we embolden white nationalists? Will we choose the road of beloved community, rooted in love and an understanding of our interdependence - or will we opt for a path of fear and hatred?
So please, if you haven’t yet, vote No on Measure 105. Turn in your ballot. Encourage your friends, neighbors and fellow faith community members to do the same. Then, consider signing up to volunteer with our partners at Oregon United for one last shift to help get out the vote. There are opportunities throughout the state. Sign up here.
Regardless of what happens on Tuesday, we know this: our efforts have helped to sharpen our analysis, build shared power and deepen relationships. All things that we are going to continue to draw from and build on for months and years to come.
Finally, mark your calendars: on Tuesday, November 13th, all are invited to a special gathering in Portland from 6:30-8:30pm to meet IMIrJ’s incoming Executive Director, Alaide Vilchis Ibarra!
