NEWSLETTER
Hello friends of African Hope Learning Center.
We welcome you to read a few highlights from our new school year which
opened on 27th August. 
FACTS:   470 students (61% girls) from over 10 different African nations 
registered from KG up to Grade 8.
We currently have 37 dedicated teachers and staff members.

A welcome donation of grass
It's hard to believe that October is almost over. As the children left for mid-term break this past week, workers came in to install artificial grass on the school grounds. Just look at the amazing transformation! The look on the children's faces when they saw the new grass was priceless. They love it so much. We wouldn't be able to upgrade our facilities without your help. Special thanks to all our friends, partners, donors and for financial support that make it possible for us to be able to pay teachers' salaries and school rent, improve school grounds and make it a wonderful place for the children to learn and thrive. 
 
Special thanks to our newest and youngest volunteers
They worked hard to produce items and cleverly sought out a fundraising venue where they could sell their products, raising over 450 LE for AHLC.  We are grateful for their enthusiasm and creativity in coming up with this wonderful idea to benefit our students.  What a blessing!  We always welcome innovative fundraising initiatives.

A generous donation of uniforms
We were so grateful to receive a donation of much needed items for our school this fall. This included long sleeved uniforms for each child. Just look at those happy faces when they got their new uniforms. Our students will stay warm in the coming winter months.  We also received cupboards and other very practical and useful items for the school.

Many thanks for donated clothing
Over a ton of gently used clothing was donated to our students by a local high school.  Our students were all given 15 minutes to go through the nice clothes and pick 5 items each.  Many came away with big smiles and some nice things they can wear. 

Our Next Fundraising Project
AHLC's 2019 fundraising calendars will soon be on sale - they can be purchased at school or at Maadi Community Church before or after the 5:00 pm services on Fridays. Please help us to be able to continue to pay our staff salaries and rent by purchasing these calendars and through your financial gifts (that are tax deductible in the US & Canada).

Teachers' Workshop
AHLC is blessed to have visitors and volunteers coming from around the world, to share their talents, gifting and unique experiences with us.  Dr. Nairy and  Dr. Steve recently shared on the subject of "How to forgive those who hurt and wound us".  This is a very relevant topic when you realize many of our teachers and students have experienced the trauma of living through war in their countries.  The challenge for all of us is this:  Don't let sin against you create sin in you!
