What's coming up this Autumn/Winter?

Vita Sackville-West termed happy experiences as 'through leaves', I love this expression and one of my favourite Autumnal activities is leaf scrunching as I walk with our Collie through the local woods, foraging seed heads and fallen branches to decorate our home. If you are looking for some 'through leaves' moments: learning a new skill, making new friends and getting creative on one of our workshops, here's what we have coming up:

This Friday we welcome local Maker and Designer Kate Keeling from House of Pandas at Duck Duck Goose Cafe for our 'The Art of Modern Embroidery' workshop. We will be mood-boarding ideas, designing our wall hanging and learning how to create the beautiful hand stitched lettering to produce a gorgeous finished piece to take home. You can then use your newfound skill to make stunning homewares and personalised clothing- ideal for Christmas gifts! Last few places still available.

Later this month we are delighted to be collaborating again with talented artist Rebecca Cherry for our second 'The Art of Modern Calligraphy' workshop. Rebecca will be sharing her knowledge on how to create this beautiful lettering, you will take home your own calligraphy set and a lovely small banner which we will make in the workshop.

Finally, we have a fun festive workshop for those of you looking to create a beautiful wreath for your home with Alena from The Country Monkey, followed by a crafting session making sustainable Christmas decorations and lots of styling tips on how to use natural materials to decorate your home and lay a beautiful festive table.

MODERN EMBROIDERY WORKSHOP

Date: Friday 9th November
Time: 10-1pm
Venue: Duck Duck Goose Cafe, Pump Farm, Tendring Road, Little Bentley, CO7 8SH

Come and join Kate Keeling from House of Pandas to learn the art of Modern Embroidery. We will be mood boarding our designs and looking at how the process is carried out from the intitial design stage, through to the stitching on to the fabric and producing your final piece- a beautiful mini wall hanging to take home. We will then be talking about ways to use your newfound skill to style your home and other fun gift ideas.

Tickets are £65pp and include materials and a tea/coffee upon arrival.

This workshop is suitable for anyone from beginner level upwards, no previous sewing experience is required.

MODERN CALLIGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Date: Friday 23rd November
Time: 10-1pm

Have you always wanted to have a go at calligraphy, but feel daunted where to start? Come and join us for an Introduction to Modern Calligraphy workshop.

We will cover everything you need to know to get started with Modern Calligraphy:
How to hold the pen.
What nib to use and how to work with them.
What ink and paper to use.
Drills and exercises to get used to using the pen.
Have a go at the alphabet and some practice passages.

By the end of the session you will have gained the skills to personalise a mini-illustrated banner with your own calligraphy. This could be a positive affirmation word or perhaps a Childs name for their bedroom.

You will get to take home your own calligraphy starter pack including a workbook with alphabet and stroke reference guide, a pen, nib and pot of ink. Everything you need to continue practicing and improving your lettering at home. Tickets: £65pp

We'll also be looking at how you can use your new found skill for ideas such as gift wrapping, table styling and stationery.

CHRISTMAS WREATH MAKING & STYLING WORKSHOP

Date: Friday 7th December
Time: 10-1pm

Come and join us for a fun festive morning making beautiful natural Christmas wreaths with Alena from @thecountrymonkey and getting some great ideas for festive styling with Kay from @kinship_creativedc .

We will be using lots of seasonal foliage and natural pieces to create stunning festive wreaths for you to take home, the price includes one of Jo's delicious coffees to warm you up whilst you work and all materials.

We will then be making natural, sustainable Christmas decorations and talking about lots of great ways to decorate your home for Christmas using seasonal and foraged greenery, as well as some ideas for planet-friendly gift wrapping and Christmas table styling.

Friday 29th Mach: 'Nourish' - a well-being event at Bright and Well Studios, Suffolk, with a yoga class, a mindful craft workshop and a delicious healthy lunch, designed to recharge your body and mind. (A great Mother's Day gift as it falls on the Friday before; or a lovely gift for a friend)
