Breaking ground at the future mission station!
Thad was able to borrow a tractor and work a small portion of the ground on the property! We will be busy fencing and planting sweet corn there soon. The second step will be to get an irrigation system in order and put up a small "windy house" as they call it here. It will be a very inexpensive small house for the caretaker to live in. This is necessary as they will act as a guard till we can get housing for ourselves. Our vision is big and full of opportunity to grow and establish a training centre for sharing God's word through farming and gardening! We are so excited, but of course there will be lots of time and work to get there.
The Voorstekraal farmers have all received their seed and have (we believe) planted there crops. We had generous donations for the seed and the fertiliser.
Thad has just about finished the first building project! The family moved in and seem very happy. We are not prepared to start with the second at this point. The single mom is working on moving to a new plot.
I am teaching about Esther in Grace Kidz this month and this week we will be acting out the whole story with costumes. I took extra time as talking about the Jews as God's chosen people were was a challenging topic for them to understand.
The weather has been very hot. Unusually so I am told. It was 104 F on the weekend of the Greyton Rose Fair! It was a beautiful event that showcases the local gardens and rose competition. I even entered a few of my own!

Thad was blessed to get to attend a men's conference in Cape Town. One of the speakers was John Bevere, and he even got to chat with him afterwards! He purchased the "Killing Kryptonite" audio set. How many of you have heard Thad's sermon on Spiritual Kryptonite? We think he first preached it in Juneau as associate pastor!
We are looking forward to all the changes with developing the new mission station! Can't wait to share with you as it comes to fruition!
1. Pray for wisdom as we hope to have our pastor in Alaska and some friends come as workers to help with the mission.

2.  Please continue to pray for our family at home.

3. Pray for the work on the mission station.

4. Pray that we continue in good health!

5. Pray we can raise more funds for the mission station development.

  Thad's Thoughts

What causes a person to be persistent? You know not to give up? Take a Farmer for example in bad years my dad would always say "next year will be better". My dad said this for at least 58 years! looking at the spiritual side. The widow had to prepare to receive her oil in desperate times. How may days passed before the oil flowed? How about Elijah for three years there was no rain yet when God told him to prepare for rain, there were no promising clouds, no lingering fronts, no visual signs of hope! Yet he was able to look forward until rain came. How? Christians, how about you, are you able to see what God see's when He looks at people? It is the challenge before all of us. Not to look with natural eyes. Eye's that want to reason and ponder statistics. Four thousand people here in Genadendal really need me to see what can be, not what is. What God see's and not what it looks like!

     Sara's Sayings

I am so excited to see what God is doing here in the valley of Grace! If I look with natural eyes I see a large half fences field and only a small portion of land that has been worked. But in my vision and we believe God's vision we see a complex of buildings, gardens, and training centre where people can come and be discipled and learn how to provide for themselves and their families! God is at work in our small beginnings!
Our giving this month was right at $1,500 so we are down again a bit. As usual we trust God to help us make it stretch. We made some other purchases from our last Alaskan Dividend money. That helped pay for Elie's Birthday and some more tools. We have other projects we hope to fund, mostly for the new mission station. We will be so much better off if we can get housing at the property. Since our rent is a bit high. We are investigating using containers. I am warming up to the thought of living in a metal box in Africa! Pun intended! lol

     Elianna's Escapades

Elie is now an eleven year old! Her birthday party was much different this year. We had a beach party in Hermanus with 9 of her new friends! We enjoyed a scavenger hunt that included sand castles, and playing with beach balls! We had water fights and relay races. We made coloured sand jars. They ate sand dollar cookies, sea snails, beach ball fruit and veggie trays. The shark photo booth was also fun! The weather held out even though it was very windy we all enjoyed the sand and sun!
