Habit of the Month

November
Put First Things First

Parent Tip of the Week:  Parents help your child “Put First Things First” by starting each day discussing what your students “big rocks” or most important tasks for the day are.

Emergency Communications Via Text and RoboCalls
During an emergency in our area, depending on the situation our LP Administration and/or the Hillsborough County School District will contact parents via text messages, robocalls, and/or emails.

Every parent signed off on the emergency cards that were sent home on the first day of school.  If your information has changed since that time please make sure you update the information with our registrar or send and email to admissions@lutzprep.org.

Great American Teach-In Week
Classrooms will have experts across many career fields visit students throughout the week to talk about their jobs or hobbies.  Thank you in advance to all the speakers who plan to share their knowledge with our students!

PTA Updates

All Pro Dads Meeting
Hey Dads and Kids...It's that time of year.  The holidays are upon us.  Before our calendars get filled up, join us for November's Lutz Prep/Lutz Pre-Prep All Pro Dad - Dad’s and Kid’s Breakfast.  This month's topic is "Thankful".  Big Idea: Often we focus on what we don't have and forget to take to stock of what we do have. If you focus on what you don't have, something will always be missing. It's important to be thankful for what you have and not take those things for granted. Some of the most successful people are generally the most thankful.

Team up with other Lutz Prep Dads and Kids for a quick before-school breakfast on Wednesday, November 14th, 2018.  Doors open at 7:00 AM, remember to bring your driver's license to check-in with the staff at the front office.  The program starts at 7:15 and ends at 7:45 AM. It’s fun and it’s free.  You and your kids will be glad you came!  Great way to start the morning.  Contact Ryan Martin with any questions.

Check out all the great families who attended the October Meeting!

Box Top Campaign
Our Annual Box Tops drive is off to a FABULOUS START with October's collection of FREE MONEY being issued back to our school of $842.20!

Please continue clipping and collecting Box Tops.  This year each classroom has a collection goal of 300 each month and 1800 by the end of the year!  Classroom collections will be tallied monthly and for the classes that achieve their monthly goals they will be rewarded!

The following classes achieved their monthly goal of 300 Box Tops for the month of October!  Monthly incentives are in place all year long so keep clipping those Box Tops!

Congratulations to Mrs. Binkley's class for the highest number of Box Top submissions in October.  The 1st Place Traveling Trophy will be displayed in her classroom for the month of November.  Mrs. Loftus class is already enjoying the No Shoes Day Award for their hard work clipping Box Tops!

We would love for families to get creative with the way they collect Box Tops!  Contact family members, neighbors, church kitchens, after school activities, sports teams, parent's coworkers etc. to see if they will donate their box tops to our school.

Please follow these simple steps to help make our collection drive run smoothly:
  1. Neatly cut and sort your Box Tops and place into baggies or print a fun collection sheet from HERE and adhere the Box Tops.
  2. Place your child's name and homeroom teacher's name on the baggie or collection sheet so that he/she receives credit.
  3. Baggies can be dropped off in the collection mailbox in the front lobby or with your homeroom teacher.
***Don’t forget to download the Bonus Box Tops app to earn even more Box Tops digitally!***
Box Tops for Education has rolled out a new app for your Smartphone or Apple device. It allows our school to earn BONUS Box Tops for items you already buy with the on-package Box Tops.  Check the app often as the offers change weekly!

It only takes a few minutes to download the app and create an account which allows you to automatically add bonus Box Tops to our school with just a picture of your receipt.  Screen shot or forward the email you receive from the Box Tops Bonus App showing the Receipt ID and the amounts earned and then email to LutzPrepBoxTops@aol.com along with your child’s homeroom teachers name so that they can receive Box Tops credit for their class!

Example: when you purchase Lucky Charms or any Toast Crunch cereals you’ll receive 1 Box Top (10 cents) from the package and if you scan the receipt into the app you will earn an additional 2, so that’s a total of 3 (30 cents) Box Tops for a single purchase!  Also, if you purchase from BOXED, they are currently running a 30 Box Tops bonus for 3 eligible purchases (totaling 33 Box Tops - $3.30 of free money!)  To access the BOXED bonus use the BOXED app, go to account, account settings, Box Tops for Education, link your BOXED account to your Box Tops account, Earn More Box Tops Here tab.

Bonus Box Tops = More Money for Our School!  Thank you for helping out Lutz Prep!!  If you have any questions, please contact Natacha Sanderson or Nicole Trailer at LutzPrepBoxTops@aol.com

Art Department Needs Your Submissions for a  Leader In Me Exhibit
Calling all LP students! We need your creative input for a permanent Leader in Me Art Exhibit!  You will be using your photography skills. We would be delighted to have each student participate.

Here are the steps….
  • Step #1: Find objects that represent how you practice one of the 7 Habits. For example, you could use soccer socks to represent Habit #3, Put First Things First, to show that you put “First Things First” by practicing soccer drills before you watch TV.
  • Step #2: Arrange those objects into the acronym letters, L.I.M. (see example pictures)
  • Step #3: Take a picture of it! Then email it to Mrs. Williams at holly.williams@lutzprep.org.

We will make a large collection of everyone’s photographs for the display.  Thank you for helping!!
