A Healthy Serving of Gratitude

When I'm presenting The Connector's Way: Building Your Business One Relationship at a Time to companies and organizations around the country, I always take a few minutes to share my own experience on the personal and professional benefits of keeping a gratitude journal.

I also ask audience members to share their experiences and have heard countless reaffirmations on how acknowledging others is one of the most powerful ways to build connections that last a lifetime.

The good news is that you don't need to spend a lot of time to reap positive benefits. "Gratitude lite," especially during the busy holiday season, can work wonders according to Robert Emmons of the University of California, Davis. He and his researchers instructed people to write in a gratitude journal just once a week, listing five things for which they felt grateful. After just two months, the people keeping the gratitude journal were more optimistic and happier than a control group that did not.

What if you are new to journaling or just aren't a pen-and-paper kind of person? The
Five Minute Journal App is an easy-to-use, structured way to create purposeful action in your day. I like to use this app when I'm traveling as it has a clean interface and some cool features. (I love the tagline, too: "A toothbrush for your mind.")

Here's wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Rule No. 7 of The Connector’s Way is BE GRATEFUL and it is with gratitude that I’d like to thank everyone who has purchased the book and shared it with clients, colleagues, referral partners, business associates, and friends.

If you'd like to give away copies as holiday gifts, I am offering a 30% discount off orders of 10 or more books purchased directly from my secure site between now and November 30. Please use promo code THANKSGIVING30 at checkout. I will personally sign all copies and shipping is FREE via USPS Media Mail anywhere in the U.S.

Age Is Just a Number:
Connecting Across Generations

Connection. Perspective. Wisdom.

These are just a few of the benefits of multi-generational relationships, such as the one that my family and I have with our neighbors Jerry and Colleen. They live in the house immediately next to ours, and our lives are that much richer for it! This past week, we celebrated Colleen's 90th birthday...and we hope to celebrate many more.

I recommend Five Ways to Connect With Other Generations for ideas on bridging the gap between ages.
