CRAFTER: Reviving Bronze Age Pottery in EU-funded Project

CRAFTER: Reviving Bronze Age Pottery in EU-funded Project

CRAFTER is an EU cooperation project revolving around Bronze Age pottery. Four countries bring their pottery and modern replica potters together in creating an exhibition: Spain, Serbia, Hungary and Germany. Part of the exhibition will be the reconstructed pottery as well as films on how these were made. EXARCs role is to help with PR & Communication.

In October, 25 potters and archaeologists convened in Mula, Spain. Following on presentations on the Bronze Age archaeology of the four regions, on the second day we literally looked over the shoulder of the potters, creating Bronze Age like pottery. The third day we visited a few of the hilltop sites as well as potter’s workshops, some of which were in function since the 19th century.

Celebrate Archaeology in Europe 14 – 16 June 2019

Celebrate Archaeology in Europe 14 – 16 June 2019

EXARC is excited to be part of the first European Archaeology Days, coordinated by INRAP (FR), taking place 14 – 16 June 2019. Where in previous years this event was a France-only event, it will now for the first time be expanded to include at least nine countries in Europe. The National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (INRAP) is the largest organisation in France concerning archaeology. They excavate nearly 2,000 archaeological sites annually. In 2018, the ninth annual French national archaeology days took place, with 1,600 events all over the country attracting over 200,000 visitors. Join the European Archaeology Days with your event!

EXARC working on EU Cooperation Projects - EMBODIES - EU Horizon 2020 Project sent to Brussels

EXARC working on EU Cooperation Projects

Behind the scenes, EXARC works on several EU cooperation projects throughout the year. One of these, a Horizon 2020 project consisting of a consortium of 11 partners from six countries, was sent to Brussels only last week. If successful, EXARC will try out Mixed Reality techniques creating group experiences in archaeological open-air museums. These test cases will lead to an (open access) engine which can be used in similar cases once the project is over.
