Introduction; Competition in Nigeria
Competition law 1 refers to a field of economic policy and laws dealing with monopoly and monopolistic practices 2.  It is in essence, a set of rules and judicial decisions maintained by governments relating to agreements between firms that restrict competition and the concentration/abuse of market power by private firms 3. There have been a number of moves by the Nigerian government to set-up a Competition regulator for the country. Several Bills were introduced in the National Assembly over the years , This led to  an open conversation on the hazardous effects of cartel monopolies and restrictive agreements on our economies. ICAO INAUGURATES TRAINING CENTRE AT MMIA

The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has inaugurated the ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre (ASTC) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport MMIA), Lagos.  The request for the designation of FAAN AVSEC Training school as n ICAO Aviation Security Training Centre was made on June 8, 2017 after which an evaluation by ICAO was conducted in May 2018 by the Regional Security Officer for Western and Central African Office (WACAF)

The centre would be under the management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), which received a Certificate of Recognition at a brief ceremony to mark the event at the weekend.



MORE AIRPORTS TO GET INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATION NEXT YEAR 
Following the certification of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, more airports are set to be certified in 2019 by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority in line with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) safety standards. The certification of airport improves its safety and other ratings in the global aviation industry.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN)’s Training Centre, has been designated as a Global Training Centre of Airports Council International and has been inaugurated by the ICAO.


SEC LAUNCHES GREEN BONDS ISSUANCE RULES
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday 3rd December officially launched the Green Bonds Issuance Rules to support the development of a Non-Sovereign Green Bond market in Nigeria. Green bonds were created to fund projects that have positive environmental and/or climate benefits.
Majority of the green bonds issued are green “use of proceeds” or asset-linked bonds. Proceeds from these bonds are earmarked for green projects but are backed by the issuer’s entire balance sheet.
