Due to predicted winter weather conditions, the Temple Office will be CLOSED on Tuesday, November 20. The office will also be CLOSED on Thursday, November 22 for Thanksgiving.
The office will be OPEN on Wednesday, November 21, from 10-2. Please feel free to call or drop by for all Temple business on that day.
Rabbi Andrea is on vacation this week and next, so the next scheduled open Rabbi's hours are Tuesday December 4, 9 AM-12 PM.

On December 4th we are, once again, preparing the community meal at the 2nd Congregational Church in Greenfield. We will be preparing lasagna (meat, vegetarian, or white) bread, salad and dessert. Cash donations are also welcomed as we buy food to fill in any gaps.
We are looking for help with cooking, cleanup, serving. Food needs to be delivered by 5 and we usually finish up by 6:30. Many hands make for light work. As it is Hanukkah, Rabbi Andrea will be saying the prayers and lighting the Haunkkah candles. It’s a very beautiful and sharing time.

Tickets are available for our 2nd Annual Light the Night Chanukah Celebration!
Sunday, December 9, 4-6:30 PM, join us at Hawks & Reed Performing Arts Center, 289 Main Street Greenfield for candle making and lighting, music and dancing with the Wholesale Klezmer Band, and delicious latkes with all the fixings.
Cost of admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets are available online via this link, or you can buy them from us with cash or check and skip the convenience fee! Stop by the Temple office Tuesdays or Thursdays, 10-2, call 413-773-5884, or respond to this email to order tickets.

Readers Theater 12/15
Call For Actors

Hear ye, hear ye, calling all actors! On December 15 at 7 PM, The TI Readers Theater will read together a play called 25 Questions for a Jewish Mother. This edgy, touching and humorous play has lots of smallish parts for a number of actors and is very easy to prepare and stage.
We are looking for actors of all ages and "energies" to read the discrete parts. Please contact the office if you'd like to join in!

Temple Israel's Silent Auction was wildly successful on many levels. Over 100 local individuals and businesses generously donated everything from sari's to ski passes. Another 100 folks showed up to bid on these beautiful objects. And over $5000 was raised to alleviate suffering of displaced refugees inside Syria.
In the face of so many challenges and conflicts, this warm and uplifting silent auction also had the benefit of empowering us to directly give kindness and sorely needed support.
The committee, ably led by Ellen Kaufmann, worked tirelessly (well sometimes, we were tired) to solicit, organize and track the many contributions and to pull of an elegant and successful event. Special thanks to Ellen's team: Marsha Stone, Lenore Styler, Robin Panagakos, Peggy Davis, Liz Kelner, and Rabbi Andrea. Ellen Berson and Phyllis Nahman made inestimable contributions. And Marc Kaufmann and Norm Hirschfield looked spiffy in their tuxes, behind the wine bar.
The folks who came to the event that night were still in shock about the events earlier in the day in Pittsburgh. How ironic that Jews were targeted in Pittsburgh for their humanitarian concern, the same concern that led us to create this compassion-in-action fund raiser.

With solid klezmer roots, spectacular technical virtuosity, and a wry sense of humor, Ilene Stahl and an all-star line-up of Boston's best musicians re-groove traditional klezmer and Mediterranean melodies, rip up Romanian surf tunes, cover cop show themes and cumbias, slay a few standards, and burnish it all to a funky finish. Ilene is our local klezmer all-star; she is often found playing with Itzhak Perlman and the Klezmer Conservatory Band. December 2, 1-3 PM: Rabbi Lila Kagedan @ JCA
The JCA is honored to welcome Rabbi Lila Kagedan, a female orthodox rabbi, to the JCA for a public conversation with Rabbi Weiner, in which they will discuss her professional and spiritual journey, the achievements and challenges of her trailblazing path, changes and variations in the roles for women in modern Jewish orthodoxy, and other aspects of her remarkably diverse and accomplished work. December 4, 6PM: Daniel Cantor Yalowitz @ Greenfield Public Library
TI member Daniel Cantor Yalowitz will present on his new book, Journeying with Your Archetypes: The Search for Deeper Meaning in Daily Life as part of the Celebrate Local Authors series at the Greenfield Public Library.
