Study Abroad Summer 2019
Italy, Croatia, and the Adriatic Sea
Geography 4600/5700- 3 credit hours

Program Description: This course is a study of the diverse cultures and landscapes of Italy and Europe’s Balkan Peninsula, seen primarily through the lens of cities along the Adriatic Sea’s serpentine coastline. Our exploration will include stops in Rome and ancient Pompeii before crossing the Adriatic by ferry to Durrës, Albania and on to Budva, Montenegro and Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Travel Dates: May 29, 2019 to June 6, 2019; $4,578 (includes airfare)

AAG Announces Launch of Geography.com

AAG and Esri have teamed up to create geography.com, a website designed for educational purposes and the promotion of the discipline. It is intended as an outreach tool for site visitors to learn more about what geography is, what geography offers, and career opportunities available in the field. The intended audience includes the general public and students (high school and undergraduates), as well as educators, parents, and federal agencies or other organizations seeking information about geography.

Are you working on a project in your organization that would help other GIS professionals?  Have technical expertise you can share with others?  Would you like to start a dialogue on a current issue in your industry? The best way to continue to move our industry forward is to share those ideas and experiences.

Why not consider presenting at the 2019 Missouri GIS Conference!  This conference will give you the opportunity to discuss your work, receive feedback, share and explore new ideas with other GIS professionals. We are looking for topics from everything from local government, utilities, education, private sector and more!

Share Your Spirit of Adventure and Become a Grosvenor Teacher Fellow
 
 Do you know any pre-K-12 or informal educators who are ready for the professional development opportunity of a lifetime? Applications are currently being accepted for the 2019 Grosvenor Teacher Fellow (GTF) Program, which will send 45 educators aboard Lindblad Expeditions' voyages for a life-changing, field-based experience. Through their participation in the program, Grosvenor Teacher Fellows gain a new level of geographic awareness for themselves, their students, their professional colleagues, and the communities in which they live.

Open to pre-K-12 and informal educators in the 50 U.S. states, Canada, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Department of Defense Education Activity Schools, the GTF Program is made possible by a partnership between Lindblad Expeditions and the National Geographic Society. Applicants must be National Geographic Certified Educators to be eligible. Enrollment in the Fall 2018 certification course is open until October 21, 2018. The GTF application will remain open until 11:59 PM EST on January 3, 2019.
