On-going Volunteer Opportunities
The Charleston Miracle League  is a non-profit organization that makes available the game of baseball for children and adults with special needs.  One important aspect of their group's success are the contributions of the good people that volunteer and help them get through game days.  Volunteer opportunities include; Buddies on the Field, Fans in the stands, Concession Stand, and Game Announcers.

Those that are interested in helping out can go to their website: charlestonmiracleleague.org, and sign up for specific dates and positions via the "Volunteer Registration" button.  Also, volunteers are welcome to just show up on game days, without signing up at all.

Their seasons consist of two 8 week periods, once in the Fall which just concluded, and once in the Spring which should start in the first Saturday in March.  During the season, game are on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Volunteers are not obligated to stay the entire day.  Show up when you want, leave when you want.  However, the longer they can keep volunteers during the day, the more helpful.
The Gullah Society and the SLI  are co-hosting the event Rise Up! Summoning the Power and Presence of African Ancestors in Charleston, which will be a discussion of the Anson Street African burials, DNA research, and student work (from Nathaniel Walker’s class) on memorialization in Charleston.
