Strong Sense of Arrival at Roosevelt Island

A burst of new energy has Roosevelt Island buzzing with the opening of the new NYC Ferry port and Cornell Tech campus. Once a sleepy, well-kept secret, this Manhattan island has been rediscovered by tourists and residents alike. Wayfinding is essential to help these newcomers navigate the island. Our design approach emphasized an enhanced visitor experience and recommended a platform for linking orientation and placemaking.

National Arts Centre Recognizes Community of Supporters

An important part of National Arts Centre's dialogue with their community is to acknowledge and thank those who contribute to making spaces like theirs and by virtue access to the arts possible. The recent architectural rejuvenation of the National Arts Centre (NAC) by Diamond Schmitt Architects signals a new and important shift in how the NAC engages with community. To complement our work on the wayfinding program and to recognize NAC supporters at various levels and commitments of giving, Entro worked with the NAC on named spaces and designed donor recognition installations for the primary foyers.

Exploring Friday Harbour, An All Seasons Resort

Friday Harbour was designed to be a destination where every day feels like a Friday, all year-round. Located on the shores of Lake Simcoe, it is set to be one of Ontario’s premier destinations and is already attracting a vibrant community. Breaking Records at Mattamy National Cycling Centre

Aspiration is integral to sport, and in many cases this is born from recognition – recognizing the athletes that have had major success while creating role models for those still climbing to the top.  Originally built for the 2015 Pan Am games, the Mattamy National Cycling Centre is now home to the provincial and national cycling associations and is the training destination for many accomplished and hopeful athletes. The venue also hosts a number of national and international level events over the course of the cycling year. Entro was commissioned to design a Records Wall to both beautify and animate the space, as well as inspire hopeful athletes by showcasing the achievements of our top performers.

Grand Opening of the Museum of Contemporary Art

The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) celebrated its grand opening and relocation to the Lower Junction neighbourhood of Toronto last month. Occupying the first five floors of the historic Auto BLDG., MOCA's vision was to create a gathering place for the local community and an attractive destination for visitors. We’re honoured to have been part of the team making this a reality – creating an exterior signage program to complement and indicate MOCA’s new home and uphold their refreshed visual identity. Congratulations MOCA on your opening and new space.

Don't Miss 'Unzipped' Before It Leaves Toronto December 2

A vibrant addition to the King West neighbourhood, the Unzipped exhibition has been grabbing the attention of Torontonians since the summer of 2018. Housed within a unique structure designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and commissioned by Westbank, the “Serpentine Pavilion” is an “unzipped wall” made of 1802 stacked fibreglass boxes. Unzipped explores how architecture can play a critical role in community building and art integration. Entro worked closely with both BIG and Westbank to create a cohesive visitor experience.
