Dear Friends of Sagamore,
Looking back at an eventful 2018 season there are many reasons that this unique great camp has endured and prospered through the years. Most of our successes reflect the generosity of its supporters; people like you, who understand that program and tour revenue cannot maintain staff services, repairs, upgrades, and enhancements to delight visitors. Your contributions are critical to our continued success. We have made great strides this year, but we need your support to sustain the momentum.
Renovations throughout camp are improving the experiences for everyone from guests to interns.
This Spring Sagamore completed its renovation of the Chalet Building at the entrance to camp. This signature structure has needed renovations for many years. Old plumbing, decaying woodwork and structural concerns have long plagued this building. It is the main entrance for visitors coming for our tours, the home of our shop and the place where our interns live for the season. Partially funded by New York State the renovations created new interpretive spaces, a beautiful store and vastly improved accommodations for our hard working interns.
Sagamore’s Trustees have set a goal to raise $40,000 for the annual appeal. Your support will help us keep this special place running smoothly and full of life. Thank you in advance for your generous contribution.

Staying at Sagamore is a complete immersion into all aspects of the camp life. The Lake is beautiful, and the quiet peacefulness of the place invokes a sense of serenity. It felt like a genuine retreat from the fast-paced life of the 21st century. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Words may not be enough to describe the magic of the Sagamore experience. On my list would be the magical unique environment at Sagamore, being immersed (with your grandchildren) in a world separate from the distractions of the 21st century, the warm-knowledgeable-patient-embracing staff, the activities, the friendships made between the kids, the bonds reaffirmed between the generations.
There are few wild places left in the world; Sagamore’s unique setting allows people from all walks of life to experience the Adirondack forest, waters, and star-filled skies. Residential programs in 2019 will offer learning opportunities with naturalists, artists and artisans, photographers, historians, fly-fishermen, birders, healers, musicians, and many others.

Sagamore begins its long awaited Kitchen Renovations
After over 40 years of producing meals for 5000 guests per season Sagamore's kitchen was worn, tired and in bad need of an upgrade. Thanks to a generous donation from a long time supporter we are in the process of completely renovating our kitchen. This project will build a state-of-the-art culinary facility that will allow our chefs to prepare better meals and also host classes and workshops. We are also creating easier access to the Dining Hall with a new entrance and two bathrooms. For the first time diners will not have to exit the building to use a rest room!
Sagamore staff, board and volunteers have been working at getting the kitchen ready for the renovations. They have removed all of the furnishings and equipment, stripped some of the overlaying wall coverings and are working with the contractor to make sure the project goes smoothly. Along the way they have uncovered some of the original Durant era wall coverings, evidence of earlier renovations and other surprises. The construction phase of the project will begin in earnest in the next few weeks and is scheduled for completion by early May. We look forward to showing off the completed work for our opening events.
The kitchen renovation project is an example of the accomplishments that Sagamore is able to achieve with the help and support of our community.
