What better way to show your love and appreciation for our amazing Ella Baker staff than by hosting a monthly Staff Appreciation Breakfast?! The PTSA would love your help in making this happen! Each month, we will be asking a grade/den to host a monthly Staff Appreciation Breakfast by signing up to bring food/drinks etc and/or volunteer for set up or clean up.
Note: Feel free to sign up even if you are not a parent of a 4th/5th grade.
Please contact Anita Yee: aschan3@gmail.com with any questions. Thank you for all of your help and support!GOING GREEN TOGETHER
It's the time for family, friends and food! But did you know that during the holiday season, the amount of trash generated increases by 25 percent? Here are some tips that will help reduce waste at your next event.
Green Tip | Have a greener gathering
Borrow, rent or buy extra plates/glasses/utensils/linens. Reusable dishware requires less resources over its lifetime than disposable items. If you go disposable, choose compostables over plastic or styrofoam.
Serve water from a beverage dispenser and just say 'no' to plastic water bottles.
Let your guests know you want to have a low-waste party so they are more mindful when they arrive. Encourage them to bring their own food containers to take home leftovers.
These tips come to you from the PTSA Sustainability Committee (Sheffali Budhiraja, Teri Wegner, Sangeeta Dutt, Shanon Reedy, and Nirali Shah). Our goal is to promote sustainable-thinking and help implement "green" practices/projects within the Ella Baker community. Our first initiative is to share "Green Tips" with you; we hope you'll join us in trying out these suggestions within your home. We encourage getting your whole family involved so we can go green together!
