How can state government and other service and education providers better support YOU?

We need your knowledge and ideas to shape the future of agriculture in Maine!

Please help us develop an assessment of farmer needs and priorities to inform program development, state government, and service and education providers supporting farmers and Maine’s agricultural economy.

Attend an upcoming work session to share your thoughts about what you need to strengthen your farm business and grow Maine agriculture.

Can’t attend a session? Visit the website here or email for more information and an online survey.

Stay updated on Facebook.
This effort is being coordinated by: Agriculture Council of Maine, Coastal Enterprises Inc., Maine Farmland Trust, Maine Food Strategy, Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners Assoc., and Maine Sustainable Agriculture Society and University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
The Maine Food Strategy attended the 'Future of Seafood' event co-hosted by the Gulf of Maine Research Institute and the Boston Museum of Science.

Some conversations from fisheries groups included waste mitigation in the supply chain, and improving consumer education on purchasing. Traceability was an issue faced by national brands, as well as
local fisherman trying to promote local product.

More information on fisheries issues and programs addressing the above issues can be found from GMRI, Eating with the Ecosystem, Ahold Delhaize,
and Manomet

Weaving the Food System Webinar

Find slides and recording from the Friday, October 12 webinar here
A variety of organizations and businesses joined a webinar this October to discuss what the network of people and organizations working on and in the food system need most to be successful. The group reacted to ideas from over 100 people who participated in outreach meetings and interviews and a network survey conducted earlier this year.

A full report on network needs will be released in early 2019. Thank you to the attendees for your time and thoughtful feedback.
The first 50 attendees get a drink ticket!

A huge thank you to our funders, to participants and volunteers driving Maine Food Strategy initiatives, and everyday supporters of Maine's food system.

Happy Holiday Season from the
Maine Food Strategy!

Sincerely,
MFS Steering Committee and Staff
