Turkey Trot 5k on Thanksgiving Day
All volunteers and parishioners are invited!
The Social Justice & Community Service Committee at St. Matthew's Cathedral invites you to join us for the annual Turkey Trot 5k on Thanksgiving Day.
Every year, members of our parish participate in this fun run to raise money for So Others Might Eat (SOME). SOME is an interfaith group that provides comprehensive services, including daily meals, to the 8,350 homeless men and women in Washington, DC. SOME was founded by Jesuit priest Fr. Horace McKenna, a strong advocate for social justice.
Please consider either running with our team, or sponsoring our team. We are hoping to raise $1000 for SOME. Be sure to click here to sign up for our parish team. When registering, be sure to put "St. Matthew's Cathedral" in the team name section to join our team!
- Date & time: Thursday, November 22, 2018 at 8:00am.
- Location: Freedom Plaza (13th Street NW and Pennsylvania Avenue NW). We will meet at the Cathedral first, at 8:00am, and then walk to the plaza.
- The 5k timed race begins at 9:00am, and the 5k untimed race begins at 9:15am.
- The registration fee for the race is $40, and covers race day entry and a shirt. All proceeds will directly benefit SOME. If you simply wish to sponsor our team and make a donation to SOME, you can do so by clicking here.
- Please join us after the race at 10:00am for our bilingual Thanksgiving Day Mass at the Cathedral.
