SAAIR CONFERENCE FOCUSES ON RE-IMAGINING OUR UNIVERSITIES


The Executive Committee of the Southern African Association (SAAIR) and the Durban University of Technology are hosting the 25th Annual Conference of the SAAIR, at the Maharani Hotel in Durban, which began on Tuesday, 13 November 2018 and ends today, 15 November 2018.

SAAIR is a dynamic association with the vision of promoting institutional research, training and development, and the exchange of information in the context of an effective institutional research unit in each institution of Higher Education.

DR THAKUR APPOINTED AS RESEARCH CHAIR OF DIGITISATION AT BANKSETA


The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Director and Head: Enterprise Development Unit and e-Skills CoLab Director, Dr Colin Thakur has added another accomplishment in his illustrious career following his recent appointment as the Research Chair in Digitisation for the Banking Sector Education and Training Authority (BANKSETA). His appointment is effective from October 2018 to October 2020.

ICON LAUNCH NEW BOOKS ON ‘HEALING AFTER A CONFLICT’


The International Centre of Nonviolence (ICON) launched the books of two Peacebuilding Programme alumnis at the ML Sultan Campus on Wednesday, 14 November 2018.

The two books which are focused on healing after a conflict were written by Dr Chrys Kiyala and Dr Dumisani Ngwenya and published by Springer in 2018.

MJIKELWA WINS DUT SKILLS ACADEMY NAMING COMPETITION


The vibrant African flavoured name of ‘Hlomisa’ by Industrial Engineering B-tech student, Sandiso Mjikelwa was chosen as the winner of the Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Skills Academy naming competition.

The competition which was open to both staff and registered students required a vibrant name for the DUT Skills Academy. Mjikelwa won a laptop and a bag for his impressive effort in successfully naming the academy, DUT Hlomisa Academy.

DUT’S COURTYARD THEATRE HOSTS MAGICAL RETELLING OF “THE LITTLE PRINCE”


As part of the 75th anniversary of The Little Prince, the Durban University of Technology’s (DUT) Faculty of Arts and Design’s (FoAD) Drama Department recently hosted a three-day stage production based on the classic book at the Courtyard Theatre.

The play is an adaptation of French aristocrat Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic French fable, The Little Prince which was first published in 1943.
