Boosting the Alumni Fund
Wow, it is already time for the end-of-year holiday celebrations and festivities. By all accounts, 2018 has been a great year for Tumaini and we are eternally grateful to God. Thank you for being an integral part of all the successes—thousands of lives were forever changed in Kenya, in numerous ways throughout the year. With your help and our partner Foundations, we sponsored more children this year than in any other in the recent past! I can’t wait to see what these kids will turn out to be and become in a few short years. Such an exciting journey!
However, our work is not done yet! As we celebrate Thanksgiving this week with family and friends, I would like you to prayerfully consider partnering with us financially for a very important aspect of our work: educating our kids beyond high school. For our end of year donation, we are committed to raise $50,000 toward our Alumni Fund for 2019. There is a great need to empower Kenya’s next generation of leaders and Tumaini has a unique opportunity to do so through your generosity.
Here is why we, especially need your help.
This year we had a record 94 sponsored students take their 12th grade national exit exam and most of these students will be eligible to join various colleges and universities by the fall of 2019. As you know, our regular child sponsorship ends after completion of high school and most sponsors are unable to pay the amounts needed for college anyway. That is why we launched the alumni fund a few years ago to meet this need. We are truly grateful to those of you who have faithfully donated to this fund. Indeed, through your generosity, we are now supporting 165 students in various vocational schools, colleges and universities throughout Kenya! Sadly, we have another 67 who haven’t joined college because of lack of funds but hope to do so in 2019. As you can see, we desperately need your support to boost this fund and help these young people achieve their dreams of business and professional careers.
