Connect Inspire Inform
Santa Cruz Public Libraries offer STEAM programs for all ages of kids. Some librarians include non-fiction, science based books in every preschool storytime. There are many STEAM programs for school age children. They are often offered in a series and require sign-up.
Series that require sign-up will be starting again in the new year. Check our calendar for start dates and location for Code Combat, Robo Basics, and Robo X.
If you can't commit to a series try one of the following: Make & Explore at the Children's Museum of Discovery (Capitola Mall) every Friday afternoon, MAKE Lab at Scotts Valley every other Friday, or the Family Lagoon Watch at Live Oak on Saturdays. We have Chess Clubs at Aptos on Tuesday afternoons and at Downtown on Saturday afternoons. There are LEGO Clubs at Scotts Valley on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday afternoons and at Boulder Creek every Tuesday afternoon. For the preschool (and up) set there is LEGO & DUPLO Fun at Branciforte on Tuesday afternoons. There is also CASE Art at Scotts Valley - a peer led exploration of art and science projects.
Plus 3 Branches have Afternoon STEAM - Aptos on Wednesdays and La Selva Beach and Garfield Park on Thursdays.
Check out our library calendar at https://www.santacruzpl.org/calendar/ for times.
Library Cards and Homework Help Programs for Students

Santa Cruz Public Libraries are starting our second year as part of the statewide Student Success Initiative.
We want everyone to have access to our libraries and library resources.
We are focusing on getting library cards to every first grader in the county to get them started on their road to success in school and life-long learning. We are focusing on first grade class visits to the library or in the classroom and signing up first graders for library cards.
Are you a first grade teacher or do you know any first grade teachers? If the answer is "yes", please contact your local library to schedule a visit and help your students get library cards.
