Your Stylish Closet
Every day you are faced with selecting which outfit you will wear when you go to work, go shopping, to the gym or to your favorite restaurant. No matter what your plans are, you want to look good and feel comfortable. The best way to make sure that happens is to have a well-organized, convenient, stylish closet that superbly accommodates your personal wardrobe. Depending on the space you have available, you can arrange for a fantastic walk-in closet or a reach-in closet when you remodel your home.
Walk-in closets are the most popular option for today’s homes. A roomy walk-in closet can serve as a private, intimate dressing room in addition to providing storage for your personal apparel. In this area you can include a cushy lounge chair or love seat that assists with tasks such as putting on socks and shoes. Another practical feature is a center island for laying out clothing and coordinating them with your accessories so you can easily choose what to wear. A drawer-mount ironing board helps with last minute touch-ups, and a full-length mirror lets you check your outfit before you leave.
A walk-in closet can be designed with a luxurious atmosphere that is an extension of your bedroom and bath. This kind of aesthetic setting creates relaxation and delight as you dress, relieving the tension of decision making. Light and airy colors brighten the space and give the impression that your closet is larger than it actually is. A striking wallpaper pattern or three-dimensional wood paneling will lend warmth and interest to the closet walls. Consider an attractive chandelier or pendant light that adds a fashionable look as well as helps illuminate your surroundings. Perhaps you would enjoy an exquisite marble countertop on your island, leather wrapped shelves, a plush carpet or your favorite artwork that expresses your personality. If you have a wired or wireless whole-house sound system you can have beautiful music piped into your closet.
For both walk-in and reach-in closets, functional storage is vital. Evaluate the amount of hanging space you will need for your full-length garments that require a single rod and for your shirts and jackets that can accommodate double rods. Closet rods with pull-down and soft lift mechanisms make your clothing effortlessly accessible. LED lights built into the clothing rods will highlight each individual piece of your wardrobe so you can distinguish between dark navy and black outfits. It is a real asset to include a valet rod that provides a place to set out a particular outfit you are planning to wear soon, so you can keep the clothing crisp and wrinkle free. Include a built-in hamper for outfits that are ready to launder. Provide abundant room for drawers, shelves, and cubbies that offer storage for folded garments, bags, hats, shoes and other accessories. You will appreciate having a jewelry drawer with a lock to protect your valuables.
