PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

November 3, 2018

God's Promises Are Real!

Greetings from Columbia, MD, NAD Yearend Meeting! God is blessing His church throughout this vast division of ours - there is no doubt about that. However, sometimes we are tempted to focus on the challenges that we are facing and/or on those which seem to be coming our direction. So, when it happens… we should repeat God’s promises:

  • “Let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me." (Isa. 27:5 KJV)
  • “…for he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye.” (Zech. 2:8 NASB)
  • “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (Matt. 21:22 NKJV)
  • “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.” (John 6:37 ESV)
  • “Never will I leave you; Never will I forsake you.” (Heb. 13:5b NIV)
  • “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.” (I Peter 5:7 NLT)

This morning, I found comfort, protection, and confidence in God’s leadership, again. As we mediate on the words of the quotation below, let’s ask ourselves only one question: Who is still in charge of the universe, the church, and our lives?

"Be simplehearted enough to believe these promises of God. When Satan comes to you, and tells you that because you are unhappy, perplexed, and troubled you are not a child of God, do not become discouraged for one moment, but gird up the loins of your mind. Let your heart repose in God. He has promised that if you come to Him, you shall find rest to your soul; and if you have done this, rest assured that He will fulfill His word in you....” EGW, That I May Know Him, 245.

Please, let’s pray for our BC Conference Youth Retreat, Search & Rescue, at Camp Hope next weekend – Nathan Wahl (registration available online).
Happy Sabbath!

In His Service,

Wesley Torres, D.Min.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

November 10, 2018

Evangelism - The Heart of the Christianity!

Greetings from Abbotsford! Today, I will have the privilege to participate in the joint evangelistic campaign (Church in the Valley (CIV) & Abbotsford Churches) at the CIV. Pastor Doug Batchelor is the speaker for the series which started last evening and will run until next Sabbath. Also, Pastor Ern Brake is concluding a week long evangelism at the Mission Church today, providing an opportunity for the interested people to transition and continue the studies with Pastor Doug Batchelor at the CIV. Please pray for these evangelistic efforts and others that are happening around the Conference and especially for the precious souls who are being touched and transformed by the messages!

In my devotional time this morning, I read an inspired quotation that reminded me of our mission as a church and individuals. I pray that it also stirs your heart to fulfill the Great Commission (Matt. 28:18-20). “Evangelism, the very heart of Christianity, is the theme of primary importance to those called to herald God’s last warning to a doomed world. We are in time’s closing hours, and the advent message, proclaimed to make ready a people prepared for our Lord’s return, must swell to a loud cry reaching the uttermost parts of the earth.” (EGW, Evangelism, 5)

May God bless each and everyone of us as we join hands to do His work in our communities -- where He has placed us to shine for Him as an unified body of believers.

Please pray for the Youth Retreat (60 participants) with Nathan Wahl at Camp Hope this weekend.

Happy Sabbath!

In His Service,

Wesley Torres, D.Min.

President

Christmas Concert
December 8, 2018

WARM HEARTS AT CHRISTMAS

As days grow colder and drearier, Carolyn Rowse Magill of the Penticton Seventh-day Adventist church and others are working hard to add a little Christmas cheer to the lives of the less fortunate.

2016, showing Pastor Greg Wellman, Captains Tim and Miriam Leslie of the Salvation Army, and Carolyn Rowse Magill.

For many years now, Carolyn has organized the church’s Christmas concert as a food/fund raiser for the city’s Salvation Army food bank. Relying mainly on the musical abilities of church members and other musicians in the community who donate their time and talent, the concert has been hailed as the best Christmas program in the area. In fact, the annual Carol Fest sponsored by the Inter-Church Committee, usually held in the Pentecostal church, has been cancelled in favor of the Adventist program.

2010 showing Christine Simmons from the Salvation Army and Carolyn Rowse Magill, concert organizer.

This year the 14th annual “From Our Hearts This Christmas” concert will be held on December 8 at the Adventist church, beginning at 7 pm. Admission is by donation of either non-perishable food items or money. It is advisable to come early, as seats and parking spaces are at a premium.
After the concert, refreshments served in the church’s fellowship hall give the opportunity to meet with old friends or make new ones.

Date:        Saturday December 8,  2018
Time:        7 PM
Cost:        Donation
