DESIGN ARTISTS
 
Bento Box is looking for Character, Prop, and Background Designers
 
Positions starting: January, February, and March 2019
 
Location: North Hollywood, CA
 
Responsibilities:
  • Report to Supervisor daily for assignment direction and notes
  • Read scripts and be familiar with story and jokes
  • Daily check in with Design Coordinator for assignments
  • Responsible for completing assignments on schedule
  • Maintain quality and continuity of designs within the show
  • Implement all executive notes
  • Reference storyboard for final designs to make sure storyboard needs are met
  • Strive for excellent communication within team
 
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience as a background designer in episodic series television
  • Strong proficiency in Photoshop. Toon Boom Harmony is a plus!
  • Comfortable working digitally on a Cintiq
  • Must be able to work within a fast paced series production schedule
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Must be able to adapt to changes easily within a highly dynamic environment
  • Strong attention to detail is critical
  • Ability to quickly adapt to different drawing styles

SUPERVISING DIRECTOR
 
Bento Box is looking for a Supervising Director!
 
Location: North Hollywood, CA
 
Must be available to start in January 2019
 
The ideal candidate is a supreme organizer with a proactive eye that can see a problem coming before it gets there. You are a quick-thinking and flexible juggler able to handle multiple responsibilities within a constantly changing environment. You possess a strong ability to lead a group of diverse personalities, keeping them motivated when schedules get tough. You have laser sharp focus and an unwavering attention to detail at all times. This is a demanding and fast moving position that requires someone who is a positive thinker, and thrives on the thrill of a challenge!
 
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the main point of contact between the Executive Producers and the production team, seeing through the creative vision for each script
  • Break down script and prepare for hand out to Episodic Director and Storyboard team
  • Oversee storyboards and give notes at milestone phases throughout the schedule
  • Note rough designs submitted to ensure they fit the needs of the storyboard
  • Participate in all animatic edit sessions to support the Executive Producers, hearing their notes and seeing the storyboard/animatic through to completion
  • Review take 1 animation footage, call retakes, do draw-overs or new storyboards and provide reference as needed for retake process
  • Oversee retake animation team, giving feedback and notes until shots are approved
  • Attend all color edit sessions, work with editor to place temp music and sound effects, guide edited cut through to locked picture
  • Participate in music & sound design spotting sessions, mixes if requested
 
 
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience directing in episodic series television, preferably in comedy
  • Knowledge of 2D animation and a thorough understanding of a 2D production pipeline from development to post production
  • Knowledge of Storyboard Pro, and Photoshop. Toom Boom Harmony knowledge is a plus
  • Comfortable working digitally on a Cintiq.
  • Must be able to time storyboards to dialogue tracks
  • Outstanding people skills: ability to guide a unique group of creative staff
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Must be able to adapt to changes easily within a highly dynamic environment, including the management of the team within this environment
  • Strong attention to detail is critical
  • Previous supervisory and leadership experience, including demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team
