St. Alban's Episcopal Church
This Week at St. Alban's

Monday, November 19, 2018
Dear all,
I know I say this every Sunday, but it was really beautiful to gather for worship together on Sunday. (Honestly, I was expecting only a handful of folks, and that we might all be too tired to sing.) If you weren't here, you missed practicing the version of the Our Father we will be singing together during Advent. We'll run through it again next week, but maybe you want to practice at home. Click here for the sheet music.
The season around Thanksgiving is also a time to consider how we will give thanks for our church life in the year ahead: if you have not received a pledge and prayer packet for 2019, please let us know.
Our shared stewardship action this week is in connection with Jubilee Sunday (through Jubilee USA) If you did not get a chance to sign the petition, you can do so here.
Next Sunday, November 25, we'll focus on treasures we carry within:
Our role as keepers of the word– stewards of our stories Presenter: Dani Gabriel, poet laureate of El Cerrito
What stories do you want to steward? Maybe a story about your
great grandfather, or a secret recipe, or a truth you’ve never told
anyone? Losing our stories means losing who we are.
Let’s document our personal stories
and our cherished stories of the community of St. Alban’s.
(Follows worship in the parish hall.)
Finally, many folks are wondering how to help victims of the fires. Click here for a list of organizations and other ways to help.
Blessings on you and yours, wherever you gather for worship and giving thanks this week. The church office will be closed this Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.
In love and gratitude,
Rev. Julie

How to help fire survivors.
- The San Francisco Chronicle has compiled a list of ways to help.
- The Diocese of Northern California also has a fire relief fund.
- One suggestion from the Chronicle is to check out helping individuals through GoFundMe.
- David Zink (a musician who has performed here at St. Alban's) and his wife Lori, lost everything. Their GoFundMe page is here.
