Hope Happenings

Week of November 18, 2018

In Matthew 8, Jesus shows compassion on members of the most marginalized groups of His culture:  lepers, Gentiles, and women. Compassion for marginalized groups is to live on as a Christian distinctive. Christ challenges us to open our eyes to the needs of our world.

Join us this Sunday at Hope Church as we explore the heart of Christ together!
Blessings, Pastor Nate Roschen
Skit this Sunday!
This Sunday, try to be in your seat right at 10:00 for a skit at the beginning of the worship service.

Blessing Basket Program
Help kids and families in need this Christmas by taking a card from our Blessing tree and purchasing clothes, diapers, or donating money for grocery gift cards. Our church works together with the Open Cupboard to help make Christmas brighter for local families. Please bring your wrapped gift, diapers, or money to church by December 9th.

Ladies' Ornament Exchange Party, December 7 at 6:30p
The Ladies Orname
nt Exchange party is at Tawnya Mork's home on Friday, December 7th at 6:30pm. Ladies in 9th grade and older are invited to attend. Please bring an appetizer or treat to share and don't forget to bring a wrapped ornament that will be used in our fun exchange game. (Your ornament can be new, used, ugly, beautiful, or unique!) Be sure to invite your girlfriends! Let us encourage one another as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior! Tawnya lives just south of the church at 2525 86th Street, Osceola.

Hope Church Caroling, December 15 at 6p
Pastor Nate says that caroling is one of the things he does best. Let's join him for some community caroling! Meet at church at 6pm and we'll head out into the community. We'll meet back at the church for cider and hot chocolate. There's a sign-up sheet in the foyer both to see who can come and also to find out where we should go. Jot your ideas down!

Children's Christmas Program, December 16
The Children's Program will be held during the worship service on Sunday, December 16. Parents, please help your children prepare for the program by playing the CD of songs that will be handed out this Sunday -- thank you! Please try to have your children in Sunday School as we will be practicing on 12/2, 12/9, and rehearsing on 12/16.

Prayer Opportunity
Moms In Prayer meets at Hope Church on Mondays from 8:10-9:10am (when Valley Christian School is in session). Join us in the Nursery as we pray for the children of the Valley.

Feed My Starving Children Fundraiser
Buy your tickets for a great cash and gift card prize worth more than $1000. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. All proceeds go toward the Polk County FMSC MobilePack on April 26 and 27. The drawing is on December 23, 2018.
EFCA ReachGlobal, Crisis Response Fund
Hope Church is making a $500 donation from the discretionary Missions account in response to the unprecedented wildfires in California. Please pray! As of Friday, the wildfire had burned 140,000 acres (221 square miles) and destroyed 12,256 structures, 9700 of which are homes. The number of people evacuated has grown to 52,000. Sixty-three lives have been lost and more than 630 people are missing. From the EFCA: “Eighty homes of EFCA congregants [in Paradise] were destroyed by the fire, leaving just two families from Paradise EFC with homes to which to return.”

To contribute, mail payment to:  EFCA, 901 E. 78th Street, Mpls, MN 55420, and indicate Paradise CA Fire Response 21709-39286.
