The Havurah is pleased to once again participate in T'ruah's Human Rights Shabbat. December 10 is International Human Rights Day, which is the anniversary of the UN’s adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. 2018 marks the 70th anniversary of the Declaration. O n Saturday December 8, services and the d'var Torah will reflect a human rights theme. We hope you can join us!
Bundle up the kids, grab your menorah and join us for a night of light and fun! Together we will enjoy latkes, pizza, dreidls, singing and a casual music jam. You are invited to bring your musical instruments as well as your chanukiah (menorah) or share in lighting one of ours. Suggested donation of $5.00 for the pizza dinner.
Mazel Tov!
Mazel tov to the Bork Dugan and Cifuentes families on the arrival of baby Leah!
Mazel tov to the Edsell-Vetter family on Yoni's bar mitzvah!
The first Saturday of the month, we have a children's service. Aliza leads the children's service and she will gear it to the ages of the children there.
There are older and younger children's playrooms on the second floor, and a play structure in the back yard.
Contact us regarding childcare on Shabbat.
We Mourn Our Recent Losses
Jason Blank, father of Havurah member David Blank-Edelman.
May the Source of Peace send peace to all who mourn and comfort to all who are bereaved.
Shabbat services at the Havurah are egalitarian, lay-led and usually involve a lot of singing. We have Shabbat services Saturday mornings at 10:00 and some Fridays. See December events for details.
There are two potlucks this month: Lunch on Saturday December 1 and dinner on December 21. They are truly pot luck - no arranging of the dishes in advance. Feel free to bring anything dairy or parve to these vegetarian meals.
The first floor of Havurat Shalom is wheelchair accessible, including the prayer room, living room, dining room and bathroom.
For the health and comfort of those with allergies, asthma and chemical sensitivities, we ask that you not wear perfume, cologne or aftershave to the Havurah.
The bathrooms are all-gender.
The Havurah is happy to provide the neighborhood with a Little Free Library. When you come to Havurat Shalom, or just when you're passing by, stop at the LFL to peruse what's there. Feel free to take a book or leave a book. Let us know if you find something of particular note!
