 Because of the Camp Fire in Butte County and continued hazardous air quality in our cities and neighborhoods, Open Door is shifting plans for Sunday’s gathering in order to minimize exposure to the smoky air.
Instead of our central worship gathering at St. Paul’s, we will gather tomorrow for prayer and worship at the Littrell’s home in Walnut Creek (map/address).
Starting at 4:30, we will spend time in song and prayer together, particularly for those most affected by the fires across California (with a focused space for Open Door Kids). While this will be a simpler and smaller expression of our gathering rhythm, we trust, as always, that God’s Spirit will be present in our midst, stirring and forming us to live faithfully and well in and for our world.
If you can’t join us tomorrow at 4:30PM, we invite you into a parallel liturgy wherever you are. You can find a short, written liturgy with a playlist of worship songs, scripture, and invitations to prayer on our website at opendooreastbay.com/november18.
NOTE: Cara Meredith (teacher, author, speaker, friend of Open Door) was scheduled to teach this Sunday. She has graciously agreed to join us next week, November 25. Don't miss it!

 Last Sunday, we spent time in our gathering praying for those affected by the fires and have remained in prayer throughout the week and have been grateful to see the many ways communities, neighbors, and strangers across the region have responded with compassion, care, generosity, and concern. May we continually be shaped into the types of people who respond quickly and generously in crises like this!
There are many organizations serving those on the front lines as well as those displaced from the fires, and we invite you to continue partnering with organizations you are connected to. Friends of Open Door’s, Larry and Stephanie Hayden, are spearheading relief efforts at the Oroville Hope Center. They are posting regular updates on their Facebook page; we invite you to consider supporting their work financially or by signing up to volunteer.
