How well do you know the plants in your aquarium?

We are always looking for new ways to make sure you get the most out of your hobby. Wether its our range of products or our after sales service we just want to make things as easy as possible so you can spend more time in front of your aquarium enjoying your aquascape. We have come up with a new weekly post which we think will help our newer aquascapers to get of on the right foot when it comes to plant care. Each week we will be sharing some basic details on your favourite plant species.

Echinodorus Bleheri - The Amazon Sword

Difficulty: Low level care required. Robust and will grow in all substrates. The Amazon sword takes most of its nutrients from the soil so naturally does best in a nutrient rich substrate.

Tank position: Due to the size of this plant it is advisable to place towards the rear of any aquarium. Take care and prune regularly to maintain healthy leaves and also to prevent smaller plants close by being deprived of light

Lighting: This plant does not require high levels of lighting which makes it perfect for most aquariums. Pulling most of its nutrients from below the substrate, the amazon sword is perfect for low energy setups.

Temperature: 22-28℃ is the ideal range of temperature for this plant

CO2 requirement: CO2 injecting will improve any aquatic plants grown however, it is not essential for the healthy growth of the Amazon sword. Feeding: The Amazon sword does well when root fertilisers tablets are used.
