Installation of poppies for Remembrance Day

Handmade poppies have been installed at the ACT Memorial in Civic as part of the commemorations signifying the 100 year anniversary of the end of the First World War.  

You can see the installation in Ainslie Place on London Circuit until 19 November.

Revolt. She said. Revolt Again

Award winning playwright Alice Birch's explosive detonation of language on stage is taken on by Canberra's next generation of actors in director Karla Conway's trademark physical style. 

Revolt. She said. Revolt Again is a rallying cry for a new feminism packed with intelligence, humour and wrenching social commentary. This will be the professional debut of The Street Company, Canberra's new talent working together as an ensemble.

Minister's Creative Council announced

11 appointees to the inaugural Minister's Creative Council have been announced. The Council will play a key role in advancing the arts in the ACT by advising the ACT Government on arts and cultural sector issues to inform policy development. 

The 11 appointees are:

Canberra Youth Theatre seeking Tutors
CYT are seeking energetic tutors to run workshops in their Gorman Arts Centre and Drama in Primary School Programs in 2019. Working in collaboration with the Director, tutors are required to develop an inspiring program for their workshop group. Expressions of interest are due by 30 November. Major Performing Arts Framework webcast 
As part of the national consultation on the Major Performing Arts Framework, the Australian Government and the Australia Council for the Arts will hold a webcast forum. If you missed the face to face consultation in Canberra, this is a chance to be part of the consultation around strengthening the Framework. The webcast will be live captioned and is scheduled for 3-4:30pm Thursday 22 November. For more information on how to join visit the Australia Council's website.  

National Arts and Disability Strategy consultation 
A reminder that you can still participate in the consultation for a revised National Arts and Disability Strategy. Everyone is welcome to have their say. You can fill in a survey or make a submission online or over the phone. The consultation closes on 3 December 2018. For more information on how to have your say, visit the website

Vote for the People's Choice Award winner, Traces III
For Belconnen Arts Centre's community exhibition, Traces III, artists were invited from throughout Australia to respond to sense of place. You are invited to visit the Centre and cast your vote for the $500 prize winner, to be announced at the conclusion of the exhibition on 16 December. For more information visit the Centre's website.

Interpose - call for artists
Tuggeranong Arts Centre is seeking pitches and ideas from emerging or experimental artists and performers to be part of Interpose, a new project being delivered in 2019. Interpose aims to create a dialogue about the role of art in our lives and the ways in which we engage in the arts by placing unlikely or unusual art forms in frequently visited public places.
