November 24th
He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings for forth fruit in its season. Psalm 1:3
Dear friends,
Greetings in the Saviour's wonderful name. I trust that you are continuing to press forward towards your goals and God's purposes for your life.
I want to thank you all for your prayers on behalf of my many complicated situations and to let you know that they have impacted my life tremendously. The month of October was one of the happiest and most peaceful times of my life. It was almost unreal. I cannot explain it to you especially since nothing externally changed, I am still on my own doing the same things but the feeling is not the same. Praise God for peace, love and joy.
Something wonderful that has happened this month in November is that I am finally driving! Isn't that so exciting. To be honest in September I told myself that I didn't have the capacity to be driving the truck amidst all the other things going on. It would have been too overwhelming for me to learn to drive all those long distances. But now I am driving around (not perfectly) and it has made things so much easier for me especially to be able to visit different villages. I thank God for the grace and the strength to overcome a fear and to do what I once thought impossible and even somewhat enjoy it. That was my biggest fear living here on my own and now that is out of the way I feel as though I have stepped into another dimension of liberty and independence.

Our CLA consultants also stopped by for a visit in November to see how I was doing in language and culture and they were very encouraged by my growth. I have been really trying to make an effort with this language and now I am in Phase 3B. For the next two weeks I will be taking a pause with language to focus on visiting a lot of villages, around 10-15. It will just be my language helper and myself and whatever contacts we make along the way. Please pray for wisdom in asking the right questions and meeting the right people. Some of our leaders will be coming in about two weeks as well so that we can discuss the situation. I definitely enjoy visiting different villages but it will be a first for me driving to all of them.
For those of you who were following my Facebook post, the three things  I did that day were: learn how to make a new sauce with my neighbor, drive out to a village for the first time and go to a rice field where they were sifting and pounding the rice. Another first was going to the opening ceremony of a new Chinese Company in our area. It was a very long, hot day but also interesting. There have been so many companies coming into Guinea because of its abundance in natural resources but unfortunately the local people don't fully benefit from it. I got to shake the hand of the Prime Minister and I was so happy but unfortunately I don't have a picture to show you of that moment. Please pray for the Education System of this country, the teachers have been on strike and school has not reopened since summer vacation (only private schools).
Thanks for your continued prayers and support. May the rest of 2018 be filled with God's grace, mercy and love for you.

Yours in Christ,
Leah Joslyn
