The Blue Wave keeps rolling in! Since last week more candidates we worked for have won, including Josh Harder in CA-10. Also, Katie Porter leads in CA-45, and Tony Thurmond is ahead for Sup't of Public Education ... keep checking for live updates, especially on Friday, 11/16, to protect against Orange Occupant's 666th day in office! To celebrate, Indivisible National issued Indivisible 2.0What's Next? We go on offense, with legislation, power in the states, and oversight to stop the GOP from running roughshod over ... well, everything. Pro tip: The new guide focuses on HOW to go on the offense against the administration, something IEB has done from the start since we live in such a blue area. So keep it up!

Here are some easy, important ways you can fight the Trump regime this week:

  1. Protect the Farm Bill
  2. Protect the environment
  3. Protect Mueller

Action #1: Protect food stamps, protect the Farm Bill

Deadline: today and until Nov 27 - One in eight Americans need food stamps to put food on the table. Food stamps, technically called SNAP/CalFresh, are part of the massive Farm Bill, currently before the US Congress. Last June, the House drastically cut access to SNAP; the Senate passed a version that protected the program; and the bill is now in conference to resolve differences between the versions. Read our article for more info and contact your members of Congress to protect this vital benefit.
What to say:
My name is ___, my zip code is ___, and I’m a member of Indivisible East Bay. Thank you for your past support of SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). Please protect and strengthen SNAP and vote down any Republican efforts to weaken the program or cut its funding in the Farm Bill.

Rep. Mark DeSaulnier (email): (510) 620-1000 DC: (202) 225-2095
Rep. Barbara Lee (email): (510) 763-0370 DC: (202) 225-2661
Rep. Eric Swalwell (email): (510) 370-3322 DC: (202) 225-5065

Action #2: Protect the environment, protect the public records

Deadline: today and until November 26 - Interior Dept Secretary (still in office as of this writing) Ryan Zinke has sent the National Archives & Records Administration a “Request for Records Disposition Authority” – or in normal-speak, he wants to destroy a massive number of records about environmental protection. Find out what you can do about it, including writing our Members of Congress and filing a formal Public Comment, along with more details and sample scripts, in our article.

Action #3: Protect Mueller’s investigation

Deadline: today and every day - Hundreds of thousands of us flooded the streets on Nov 8 to stand up for the rule of law and protect the independence of Special Counsel Mueller’s Trump-Russia investigation. There's more you can do to fight this slo-mo Saturday Night Massacre! Call your Senators and Representative and read our article for info & other actions you can take.
What to say:
My name is __, my zip code is __, and I’m a member of Indivisible East Bay. Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker has a profound conflict and must be removed from overseeing the Mueller investigation. Thank you for speaking publicly, and please do all you can in Congress to hold Trump accountable and protect the Mueller investigation.

Help Camp Fire victims

Sadly, we need to help another community in crisis from terrible fires in California. Our friends at the CD4 Indivisible Network put together a helpful list of organizations. Please consider the North Valley Community Foundation, North Valley Animal Disaster Group, or donate pre-selected items from Amazon

Reminder: ACA has not been repealed!

Right now, Californians can sign up for healthcare from Covered California. The deadline to apply in CA is January 15, 2019. And tell people you know in other states that the deadline for them to apply may be as early as December 15, 2018.

We Could Not Make This Up

Usually when we talk about wolves in politics, it's metaphorical: wolves in sheep's clothing, etc. Proving that irony is alive and well, Rep. Thomas Massie (D-KY) reports that he and Silicon Valley's Rep. Ro Khanna “introduced a resolution to force a vote on US involvement in Yemen war. The War Powers Act requires a vote within 15 days of introduction. GOP leadership is preventing a vote by hiding language in a resolution for the Manage our Wolves Act. #cantmakethisup!” (Hey, catchy hashtag!) And unbelievable, in a good way: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is the Incredible Tiny! She's back at work just days after breaking three ribs. Send RBG get-well cards here: Supreme Court, 1 First St NE, Washington, DC 20543. Viva Ruth!
