Since my last edition, I have been meeting constituents around Harrow East and attended the Conservative Party Conference in what is a vital time for the Brexit process.

Here are a few of the events and engagements I have taken part in recently:
Remembrance Day 2018
I was honoured to attended a number of events on the 100th anniversary of the Armistice. I joined our local Conservative councillors at events in the constituency and joined the parade at The Cenotaph with a group from our local Jewish community. A service was also held at Neasden Temple to remember the service of Indian soldiers in the Great War.
Jammu Kashmir Day 2018

I hosted the third Jammu Kashmir Festival in Parliament which was attended by eminent people from the Fashion industry, theatre, politics and supporters of wildlife preservation and ethical fashion. 
Wealdstone Plaque
I joined Harrow Weald Councillors to unveil the re-siting of the plaque commemorating the Wealdstone, the stone that separates Harrow Weald from Harrow.
Mitzvah Day

I joined some hard working volunteers for Mitzvah Day at Stanmore and Canons Park Synagogue to make soup for the Firm Foundation and local homeless hostels.
Avanti House School

I welcomed my colleague The Secretary of State for Education, Damian Hinds to Harrow. He opened the new Avanti School building in Stanmore with myself and local Conservative councillors.
IN PARLIAMENT
Monday 22nd October: After my constituency surgery, Defence Questions opened proceedings followed by UQs on Customs Union and the meaningful Vote on Brexit which were followed by statements on Eurocouncil and the death of Jamal Khashoggi, as a result the rest of the business was once again postponed. I attended the HCLG Select Committee and also a delegated legislation committee. In the evening I hosted the Jammu & Kashmir Festival.

Tuesday 23rd: Health & Social Care Questions opened proceedings where I asked about the NHS Plan

Followed by a 10 minute rule bill on abortion. We then had the remaining stages of the Civil Liability Bill. I attended the Backbench Business Committee and the Inter-Parliamentary Union Committee.

PMQs followed. We then had all stages of the NI Executive Bill. I attended Procedure, 1922 Executive and 1922 Committees. In the evening I attended the Conservative Muslim Forum reception.

We then had a UQ on the US withdrawing from the Nuclear Treaty, I raised the non-compliance of Russia to the treaty. https://www.theyworkforyou.com/debates/?id=2018-10-25a.439.0&s=speaker%3A24945#g441.0

There was then a statement on Immigration Policy followed by debates on Folic Acid Fortification and Inclusive Transport Strategy. In the evening I ran a tour for constituents.

Friday 26th: I had a meeting with Chief Inspector Adrian Needley on policing in Harrow. I attended Navratri functions in the evening.

Saturday 27th: After the Harrow Weald street surgery I attended a special service to celebrate the 40th anniversary of independence for Dominica. I then attended the Stanmore Park Quiz Supper

Sunday 28th: After the Wealdstone street surgery, I attended the Diwali shopping Mela.

Monday 29th: After my constituency surgery, I went to the House where at Home Office Questions I asked about integrating people by ensuring that they can speak English

The Budget followed. In Westminster Hall, I participated in a debate on making Diwali, Rosh Hashanah & Eid public holiday.

Tuesday 30th: At FCO Questions, I asked about pressure on Pakistan to dismantle terrorist bases in illegally occupied Kashmir https://www.theyworkforyou.com/debates/?id=2018-10-30c.767.3&s=speaker%3A24945#g768.4
Followed by debate on the Budget. I attended the Backbench Business Committee, Nepal & India APPGs where I was re-elected as an officer to both groups. I chaired a roundtable for Crisis on homelessness. In the evening I hosted the first Diwali reception in Parliament to concentrate on the spiritual aspects.

Wednesday 31st: I attended the HCLG Select Committee where we questioned the current Housing Minister. At NI Questions, I asked about police funding in NI https://www.theyworkforyou.com/debates/?id=2018-10-31a.898.3&s=speaker%3A24945#g899.2
After PMQs the debate on the Budget continued. I attended the Cyprus APPG AGM, Procedure Committee and hosted the annual Diwali reception on the Terrace.

Thursday 1st: DCMS Questions followed by Attorney General. At the UQ on Fixed Odds Betting terminals I raised concerns about the takeover of Ladbrokes by GVC

The debate on the Budget concluded. I captained the Commons to victory once again against the Lords at our annual Bridge match.
