Community Stakeholders and Friends,

You are invited to the Charlotte Area Fund Incorporated 35th Annual Business Luncheon on Thursday, Dec 6, 12- 2:00PM at the Levine Museum of the New South. Keynote comments provided by Dr. Stephanie Kripa Cooper Lewter, Executive Director, Leading on Opportunity.

The CAF Annual Business Luncheon is the agency’s opportunity to recognize successes and challenges reducing poverty and to identify private/public policy solutions on behalf of the voiceless and underserved. Since 1963, the Charlotte Area Fund Incorporated has been the federally designated community action agency in Mecklenburg County dedicated to assisting individuals and families to overcome poverty, secure decent housing, access social services, pursue education, and obtain good jobs. Our expectation is to strengthen communication, collaboration, and coordination that will impact systemic barriers to economic mobility in Mecklenburg County.

"Reimagining our Anti-Poverty Mission" is our collective call to community action. The emergence of community action was initiated by President Lyndon Baines Johnson’s executive order enacting the “Economic Opportunity Act of 1964” signaling a legislative solution to combat a national crisis of American poverty. The current hyper-partisan indifference to the needs of America’s poor must not obscure our imperfect shared history aspiring to eradicate poverty. “We can draw lessons from the past but we can’t live in it."

The event is sponsored by Wells Fargo and Community Service Block Grant. Seating is limited RSVP by November 21.
