Do You Still Have a Windows XP or Windows 7 workstation or a Windows 2008 Server?
Windows XP Users
Beyond being a HIPAA concern, Microsoft is now introducing software changes to other Microsoft software that makes Windows XP truly obsolete. New versions of the Medical Suite released on or after December 1st, 2018 will no longer run on Windows XP. If you have not done so already, please upgrade or replace your current XP machines if you wish to continue using those computers with newer versions of the Medical Suite.

Windows 7 and Windows 2008 Server
We are just over one year away from Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 coming to End of Extended Support. This means that Microsoft will no longer supply them with monthly security updates. At that point, computers and servers running these products will be vulnerable to hackers and breaches and will therefore need to be upgraded or replaced.

If you are still running these products at your practice, please contact our Managed Services department at hwsales@stimsp.com

Quality Payment Program Year 3 - Upcoming Webinars

Prepare For 2018 MIPS Data Submission By Obtaining EIDM Credentials Now
The 2018 performance year for the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) ends on December 31, 2018. To access the Quality Payment Program Portal and submit your 2018 performance data, you’ll need your EIDM User ID and Password. If you do not yet have one, please review the EIDM User Guide for more information on setting up an account.
Electronic Patient Statements - Check For Two Receipts
Did you know that all electronic patient statements now give 2 receipts? The first comes within 2 minutes as a "to-do list message" to the actual user who created the batch. The second is an email receipt to the address you enrolled with. Please call Practice Manager support if you are not receiving that to-do list message within a few minutes. This could indicate that your billing did not go out and will not be mailed to patients. Keep in mind that every batch gets its own message. Also, if you do not receive an email receipt within 48 hours, please check to make sure that the email address you enrolled with is still up to date and correct.
Best Of Luck To Leslie McCann
It is with mixed emotions that we are letting everyone know that one of our customer support team members, Leslie McCann, is retiring on Friday, November 16th.  We are happy that she’ll be able to pursue her passion of traveling and volunteering yet we are also so sad that we’ll be losing such a valuable and knowledgeable person in our department.  STI hired Leslie just shy of 20 years ago to train our brand new Practice Manager product.  She traveled the states of Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania for quite a while and then came in-house to handle telephone support for our customers.  She is definitely a fan favorite because of her knowledge and patience. We will all miss her and wish her well!
Reducing Clinician Burden
CMS recently released a letter to clinicians outlining how the agency is reducing burden through reform of documentation and coding requirements. To review this important communication, read the full letter here.

Continue Claim Submissions through Change Healthcare for:
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield
Based on Change Healthcare’s Customer Service Alert 1-2RCUS28, they do not expect a disruption in connectivity to Anthem payers.  They apologize for any inconvenience the miscommunication by Anthem may have caused (Anthem’s letter dated 10/01/2018).  Unless further advised, continue to submit claims through Change Healthcare.  Change Healthcare will post additional information ON24/7 CSA 1-2RCUS28.

Amerigroup Community Care
A letter was also issued to providers stating electronic transmissions will be sent exclusively through Availity EDI Gateway (letter dated 10/26/18).  STI has reached out to Change Healthcare for further clarification.  Continue to check Change Healthcare’s ON24/7 for a Customer Service Alert (CSA).
