HEAT

Do you have a skill or expertise to share Hosford students as part of the Hosford HEAT before & after school program! or know someone who does?

• Anything STEM related
• Dance
• Yoga
• Gaming, specifically Dungeons & Dragons
• Creative Writing, Story Telling
• American Sign Language, French

The success of the HEAT program starts with the amazing folks who commit their time and energy to connecting with students in this important after-school program.

Winter classes will be posted, and registration open, before Winter Break.

Classes begin mid-January and run for 9 or 10 weeks (most classes occur 1 day/week)

Volunteers always welcome! HEAT instructors are compensated for their time.

Jefferson High School Tours for non-feeder Schools - November 28th - RSVP needed!

Jefferson High School will be hosting a tour for 8^th grade students who do not currently attend one of our feeder schools on November 28. The tour will be from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m.  Participating students and families will be responsible for transportation to and from the tour. If a student wants to come on this tour, they must RSVP using the RSVP link on the Jefferson webpage.  https://www.pps.net/jefferson
 
The person who registers a student for a tour must include an email address in the online RSVP so that we can send them an Emergency Contact Information sheet that every student participant must bring with them on the date of the tour.

Holiday Wreath Fundraiser

Dress up your home for the holidays with a lovely handmade wreath, swag or garland. Each wreath is made using noble fir, pine and juniper berries, and comes with a red wired bow. Prices range from $30-45.

Parent Teacher Conferences 

Dear Hosford Families:
Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up on November 19 and 20, and we are looking forward to seeing you! Our 7th and 8th grade families will be familiar with the format, but we know that 6th grade families often have many questions. Here are the key things you need to know:

- Conferences are offered 9 AM - 12 PM, 1 PM - 4 PM, and 5 PM - 8 PM both days. Individual conferences usually last about 5 minutes to ensure that our teachers can see all families; if you need more time with a particular teacher, you are always welcome to schedule time to meet with them on another day. Conferences are done arena-style in the library and gymnasium, with content areas (English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Electives, World Language) grouped together. Special Education teachers typically conference with families in classrooms for additional privacy.

- At the middle school level, no appointments are necessary; just show up at the time that is most convenient for you. The exception to this is for our families who use translation services; we are calling home to schedule appointments to ensure a translator is available to assist you.

- Students are welcome and encouraged to attend.

- Please check out this link for tips on getting the most out of your conferences (available in Chinese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, and Somali).
