This year - We party with pilgrims.

First off: We are excited to announce that we were awarded another 10 year contract to provide trips in Glacier Bay National Park. It is an honor to offer services in this majestic place. Let's go see some puffins!
It's full on Autumn here in Alaska - and that means boat projects!!

The rains have returned and we've been working on boat maintenance as the weather allows. List includes: bottom painting, replacing cutlass bearings, reconditioning the propeller, etc. to give everybody a smooth ride next summer.

There is a boat lift big enough to haul out Sailboat BOB in Sitka. But it complains a little.
For your viewing pleasure - some photos from our trip to Philly and the East Coast. We promise there are Pilgrims.
Any visit to the East Coast for sailing nerds like us would not be complete without a stop at the Mystic Seaport. Woah. This place is incredible. These guys probably even know the lyrics to Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Rum.
We promised Pilgrims! This is the wooden skeleton of the Mayflower II currently being restored in Mystic Seaport. "The restoration of the nearly 60-year-old wooden ship is being carried out over several years with the project scheduled for completion in 2019. The purpose is to prepare the ship for the 400th anniversary in 2020 of the Pilgrims’ arrival in 1620." You can follow her progress here.
It's too bad we don't need a new dinghy.... This little pirate ship needs a home. And some strong peddlers.
Giving some captaining advice to LJ Silver.
We think the toilet instructions are the most important to follow aboard the BOB. However, some boats have other priorities...
We both fell in love with Cape Cod and our friend Amy's backyard. She's a frequent sailor aboard BOB, and a life-long resident and a fabulous artist. Her love of this spectacular stretch of sand inspires her incredible work. And her home is on land her Pilgrim relations have owned since the 1600s. Those are some deep roots.
Blain and Monique (us) celebrated their 20th anniversary, surrounded by friends and family in beautiful Raven Glacier Lodge in Girdwood. Guests of honor included our parents. Thank you to everyone for coming and for the very nice weekend. It was way special. And somebody got new red shoes!
Don't forget to check out our photo album for the year. The Best of 2018 Album can be seen on Google Photos
From a sweet note we received from a fine fellow we were lucky to swim, sail and share a fire with this past summer.

"Hello Blain & Monique,
The highlight of my year was aboard the BOB, as we wandered through the endless
waterways and forests. To experience nature aboard it is to feel connected to the divine.
A special thanks for your gifts with a nine-year-old, Zane, tolerating his curiosity,
and exposing him to a new world. I think he had the best time of all.
Alison and I continue to enjoy each day. I hope the winter brings you fun and enjoyment, where ever you decide to go."
