Patricia Morchel is a doctoral candidate in the Art Education program and currently has 10 exhibitions throughout the Teachers College campus, including the A&H Chair, Dr. Han's office. Her work is devoted to materials exploration with an emphasis on process by facilitating and honoring what naturally evolves on canvas with paint. She is fascinated by the beauty and unique qualities of organic abstract shapes, lines, muted colors, ink blots, layers, and rich textures and highlights them within her compositions. She finds inspiration from abstractions of personal experiences, explorations, thoughts, feelings, memories, nature, art history and visual culture. Her work acts as individual meditations in soft, restrained, and natural color palettes offering a respite from the visual saturation and inundation of daily life.
