What will the sessions cover?
The full day workshop includes sessions that incorporate a range of experiential activities including case studies, small and large group discussions, audio-visual material, Powerpoint presentations & critical reflections.
Sessions cover:
- Socio-political and historical context of the Aboriginal experience of past child welfare laws, policies and practices.
- Impact of forcible separation and assimilation.
- Trauma: Definition, manifestation, neurological and physiological impacts.
- Trauma informed practice.
- Implications for law professionals and professional development.
