I've felt a little adrift lately. Life's been really busy, and sewing time has been at a premium. What I have sewn though has been enjoyable stuff... doing some major piecing on our guild's QuiltCon Charity quilt(photo at left), cutting into a new bundle of Essex to make some potholders, and super fun, some fabric doodling for Bee Sewcial. Fingers crossed things loosen up a bit in the coming weeks, cuz you know.... holiday sewing!
And then there's the striking Tartan Quiltby Barbara "B"/Modern Quilting by B. According to B, "The key to making a successful Tartan quilt is in selecting colors that complement one another, and then in selecting a range of values (lights and darks) of those colors." Good to know!

Anne/playcrafts' Picnic Plaid quilt, like many plaid quilts, uses strip piecing to make the top come together quite quickly. Her fabric placement really gives this quilt a modern look, doesn't it?

I also wanted to show off Anne's "deconstructed" Plaid Parfait. Can you see where she extended a couple of the stripes into the binding? Very fun!

And finally, I was so intrigued by Stacey/SLOstudio's gradient of blue fabrics in her Briar Hill Plaid quilt. A bit out of the ordinary, her use of color becomes a very distinctive design element.

At first glance, I loved Barbara/ Modern Quilting by B's little quilt, and the closer I looked, the more I admired it! An improv adventure titled Golden Beets, B's quilting adds so much to her already delightful piecing.
