Boarding House Interim Control By-law Study
At Tuesday's meeting, Council considered options to control and regulate boarding houses in Niagara Falls presented by study consultant, MHBC Planning. The option recommended by MHBC Planning would permit 100% conversion of motels to Single Room Occupancy Buildings across the City. Council carried a motion to request further consultation among the public and other stakeholders.

Report: 2019 Canada Day Celebrations
At Tuesday's meeting, Council considered three location options for the City's 2019 Canada Day Celebrations and decided to keep the Celebrations downtown, where they have been held for the past six years.

Recognition: Councilors Morocco and Craitor
On behalf of Council and the City of Niagara Falls, Mayor Jim Diodati thanked Councillors Joyce Morocco and Kim Craitor for their years of service and wished them well in their future endeavours.

Recognition: UCI Para Cycling Road World Champion
Niagara Falls native and Team Canada member, Shelley Gautier, was recognized at Tuesday's Council Meeting for her many outstanding achievements and her 14th World Championship title, winning the 27.2 km Women's T1 competition at the Union Cycling Internationale (UCI) Para Cycling Road World Championships in Maniago, Italy. Shelley has held the World Championship title since 2010 and also won several Gold Medals this year.

Recognition: Canada Games 65+ Mixed Doubles Tennis Champions
Local tennis champions, Liz and George Najbert, were recognized at Tuesday's Council Meeting for their gold medal win at the Canada 55+ Games in the 65+ Mixed Doubles competition. The Canada 55+ Games were held this past August in New Brunswick.

Recognition: Dance World Cup European Champions
Niagara Falls dancers Tatum and Carlyn McLean were recognized for winning multiple medals at the 2018 Dance World Cup. Held this past June in Spain, the competition hosted more than 6,000 dancers representing 47 countries in acro, ballet, hip hop, jazz, modern/contemporary and tap dance disciplines. Tatum and Carlyn train locally in Niagara Falls and were scouted to compete as part of elite dance team, World Performers Canada.

Presentation: The Steve Ludzik Foundation
At Tuesday's meeting, Council approved a request to support The Steve Ludzik Foundation at the 7th Annual Ludzy's Celebrity Roast on November 30, 2018 in Niagara Falls. The Foundation has raised over 1 million dollars since 2012 and brings the event to Niagara Falls every year. Proceeds support The Steve Ludzik Parkinson's Rehab Centre at Hotel Dieu Shaver. The Centre is rated No. 1 in Canada and provides free therapy to patients.

Proclamation: November is Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Month
Pulmonary Hypertension is a rare, complex, progressive and potentially fatal lung disease. Diagnosis is difficult and the disease affects people across all demographics. The City of Niagara Falls hopes to help spread awareness in support of education, research, and better access to life-saving treatments.

Proclamation: November 17 is Latvia 100
This year marks Latvia's centenary and a grand commemorative celebration will be held on November 17 in Niagara Falls. Dignitaries will be joined by hundreds members of the Latvian community from across Ontario, Canada, and the United States.
