How to enjoy a greener, planet friendly Christmas

Can you beleive it's only 7 weeks until Christmas? We're getting into the festive mood, organising our biggest event of the year - our Christmas Craft Fair. Come and join us on Sunday 18th November and support over 30 lovely local, independent businesses, individual arts & crafts people, who have been working thier little creative socks off to bring you fabulously unique, gorgeous gifts. It's a wonderful relaxing way to shop and it's Planet friendly too. Read on to find out more ...

There has been a lot of talk in the media recently, about how human consumption is destroying our planet. ‘Drowning in Plastic’ and ‘Fashions Dirty Secret’ are two recent TV programs which horrified me into realising we’re all responsible for the planet we live on. Although it may seem overwhelming, we can do our little bit to help save the Earth and each other.

Christmas is the worst time of year for unnecessary waste. It can easily become an expensive, all consuming, glutinous orgy of excess. Taking it’s toll on our health, bank balance and the environment. So instead of buying new mass produced, over packaged things this Christmas, support your local community and visit a craft fair. By buying locally from small independent businesses, we can all help each other and it’s a wonderful way to help the Planet too. You’ll find real creative people with a passion for what they do. Often re-using, recycling, mending and making things with natural homegrown produce. And the best thing about handmade / homemade is the personal touch, the uniqueness of each product and the person behind it. You’ll never find 2 things exactly the same. Buying a gift for someone you love, from someone who has put their heart and soul into creating something beautifully unique, is the best gift money can buy.

We love hosting our annual Christmas Craft Fair. It’s wonderful discovering new creative people and bringing them all together. Creating a brewing pot of inspirational ideas. Not only will you be able to buy beautiful handmade things but you’ll also be able to have ago at making a few yourself. Come, meet and see artists at work. Try knitting, crochet, macrame, felting and spinning. Book onto one of our craft classes and discover the alchemy of natural dyeing, or the magic of creating silver clay jewellery! We’ll have lots of delicious homemade treats too, including cakes, jams, fudge and chocolates, hot soups, along side delicious freshly baked bread from our local Scalford bakery!

Come and join us this Sunday and enjoy a relaxing, inspirational, Planet and dog friendly start to the festive season.

We look forward to welcoming you soon
