Keep It Local
December is next week, which means the 2018 shopping season is in full effect. We encourage you to shop local this season. Aberdeen is home to many "Ma and Pa" shops owned by local residents. When you make a purchase from their store, you are helping to support your neighbors. Here’s some tips: The Nut Roasters, located in the Johnson Family Pharmacy is just the place for a delicious bag of roasted, glazed and flavored nuts.  Pick up a fresh sorbet from Micha Sorbet just down the street from City Hall. Need a night out of the kitchen? A gift certificate from Mamie's Café, Franks Pizza, Supermarket Campos, Georgia's or Scoops, all hometown favorites, make perfect gifts. Are you or do you know a fan of superhero's?  Expanding Universe has the best selection of publications anywhere around. How about Ravens apparel? Olympia Sports has shirts, jackets and other team goods. For that special lady in your life, Saxon's Diamond Center is always a hit. If your budget is on the smaller side, treat her to a spa day at Odyssey Salon, Heart to Heart Hair Studio or one of our many other beauty salons. Aberdeen has many local options for gift buying!

Holiday Statistics
Many are gearing up to purchase Christmas tree, shop for gifts, and bake cookies. Take a look at these interesting facts about the jolliest of holidays:
Americans buy 25-30 million real trees and 8-12 artificial trees each Christmas season.
What's the record number of lights on a Christmas tree? 194,672!
1.76 billion... that's the number of candy canes produced in the U.S. each year. Laid end to end, that's nearly 167,000 miles of candy canes.
The average American spends roughly $780 on holiday shopping.

The busiest shopping day of the season isn't Black Friday. It's actually the Saturday before Christmas.
